Consolidate yesterday’s learning by having a go at the questions on today’s slides. If you feel confident enough, have a go at today’s worksheet! We have done some work on time so far in Year 1 so try your best but don’t worry if you’re finding it hard. Remember to persevere and remember time is always a tricky concept for us to grasp straight away! Writing Activities: Our new topic is ‘Alternative Fairy Tales’ Task 1 – write an invitation Watch the story of Cinderella https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=cinderella+for+children+uk&&view=detail&mid=D9D873D40DAF4F4C3A32D9D873D40DAF4F4C3A32&&FORM=VRDGAR&ru=%2Fvideos%2Fsearch%3Fq%3Dcinderella%2Bfor%2Bchildren%2Buk%26FORM%3DHDRSC4 Write your own invitation for Cinderella’s house to invite them to the magnificent ball. Try and include all of the key information! Your maths work this week on days, months and time will be useful for this task. You will need to include:Where is the ball? What day is the ball? What time is the ball? How long will the ball be?What do you wear? What will happen at the ball? Music, food, party games?

Task 2 – write a postcard Imagine you are Cinderella. Write a postcard from your holiday honeymoon with Prince Charming. On the left hand side of the postcard template write all about your holiday. Where are you? What is the weather like? What has been your favourite things about your holiday? Don’t forget you will be writing from Cinderella’s point of view. On the right hand side is where you could practise writing your own address. You could make your own address up if you would prefer! Don’t forget your capital letters. You could draw a picture on the other side like a real postcard showing where Cinderella is on her holiday. Task 3 – make a timetable for Cinderella’s day

Use our work in maths this week to create a timetable for Cinderella’s day. You can draw the hands on the clock and use this time to begin your timetable. For example; At 9 o’clock Cinderella wakes up and makes her breakfast. At 10 o’clock she starts cleaning for her evil step sisters. You can decide what Cinderella gets up to for the day. You could make your own twists too!

HandwritingSee your Tapestry Journal and follow Miss Myers and her handwriting video.

Science – day length Watch this video to introduce this week’s learning https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/zxcxnbk The length of time we have light during the day changes across the seasons with the longest day being in summer (in this week!) and the shortest day being in winter. What do we call the times of day when it first becomes light and when the light goes? Can you create a picture of one of these times of day? What key features will you need to include? What wildlife might you see?Task: look at different pictures of sun rise and sun sets on google with a trusted adult. Split a page into 2 – can you draw the sun rise / sun set? Can you talk about your pictures?BIG SCIENCE QUESTION TO DISCUSS WITH YOUR FAMILY = What happens to the length of day on other planets?

GeographyMake a poster summarising everything we have been learning in our geography lessons. You could draw pictures and write sentences to explain your learning. You could ask someone at home to record you presenting your poster to show your learning to your teacher on Tapestry. Your poster could include:Weather symbols you have learned, Hot and cold countries, Equator, Weather in Carlisle orWeather around the world.

Art Have a go at designing and making your own 3D clock. You could use junk model materials around your house to make your clock! Take your time to do your clock face, look at a real clock/use the maths PowerPoint to double check the amount of numbers and the position to make it as real as possible. Don’t forget to share your work on Tapestry!

Additional Tasks: Complete ‘5 a day’ on Doodle Maths See and complete ‘To Do’ tab on Purple Mash Visit Phonics Play – practise sound recognition Visit ‘Topmarks’ and pick a new game to play Visit Nessy and explore the games
