Forging a link between soul and pop, the legend of King of Soul, Sam Cooke will be revealed when Australian soul singer and performer, Gary Pinto and the fabulous 8-piece band Champions of Soul perform the unforgettable music that recounts Cooke's rise to fame and shocking early death.

More than sharp suits, luxury cars, generous women and earthy language, Cooke’s crystal-clear, velvet-smooth voice had the melodies to match and created a new genre of music.

This show will feature Cooke’s best known hits, including You Send Me, A Change Is Gonna Come, Cupid, Chain Gang, Wonderful World, Another Saturday Night and Twistin’ the Night Away.

Post-show Q&A

Like an hour with good friends—who just happen to have impeccable taste in tunes—this is a show that keeps to the beat of the human heart.

TZU’s Joelistics and ARIA-nominated producer James Mangohig are icons of Australian hip-hop, but their family histories are as complex and layered as their lyrics. Both half-Asian, their respective heritages are woven through their experiences growing up in Australia.

From a nightclub-owning grandma in an open marriage to globetrotting parents with a political streak, the pair lovingly paint a canvas filled with failed proposals and religious strictures, casual racism and empowerment through music.

Searching for the family songs that were sung around the kitchen table, Jessie Lloyd explores the day to day life on the missions, settlements and reserves through music. From cultural identity to love and loss, these rare songs consist of almost forgotten stories that can now shed light into the history of our indigenous elders, families and communities.

This Project faithfully explores the musical journey of indigenous Australian music as the Mission Songs Quartet connects the traditional with contemporary.

This performance will be accompanied by special guests Andean folk band Inka Marka.

Post-show Q&A on Friday after 1pm performance

The contradictions of modern India with its iPhones and ancient gods come alive in this outrageously funny and heartbreakingly beautiful production.

A poor chai-wallah has his life changed forever when a young girl is abandoned at a busy railway station and brings the place to a standstill with the beauty of her singing.

Our Guru (Jacob Rajan), is a buck-toothed chameleon, channelling 17 characters and leaping to multiple locations, delivering a serpentine romantic thriller while dispensing dubious spiritual wisdom. He is by turns charming, loathsome and absurdly profound.

The MSO returns to Frankston with a pair of works that showcase the power of the full orchestra. Featuring Australian pianist Daniel de Borah, Brahms’ First Piano Concerto is a dramatic work that marries heroic struggle and extreme intimacy. Plus, the fateful fanfares of Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony make for an epic evening of sonic delight!

Have you ever built a… FoRT? A show for cubby creators and den dwellers.

Two strange characters appear hunting for whispers of adventure. In a series of vignettes, a couch, table, cushions, sheets and broomsticks transform into rockets, trampolines, cliffs and tents – places to explore. FoRT is full of ridiculous clowning, spectacular acrobatics, poetic visual imagery and celebrates the kind of creative genius that has been known to turn lounge rooms into volcanoes, trees into castles and cardboard boxes into racing cars.

Children are Stinky is an exciting award- winning children’s comedy with five star reviews and sold out shows globally.

Set in the 1990s, plenty of in-jokes and a cleverly choreographed nostalgic mash-up hooks you in for a rollicking trip down memory lane. Expect daredevil stunts, incredible acrobatics, lighting fast hula hoops, and loads of laughs.

Picasso and His Dog is inspired by the true life story of Pablo Picasso and his sausage dog Lump. This delightful show celebrates the animals with whom we share our lives while exploring what it is to be creative and to create. This work is an inventive mix of live art-making on-stage, puppetry and magic realism. Picasso and His Dog is about how the animals in our lives can inspire us to be excellent humans (and artists).

THREE horses died after being

starved by a self-appointed

Somerville horse rescuer, a court

has heard. And more than a dozen more

only survived due to rapid

intervention by the RSPCA and

vets.Cathryn Kelly walked from

Frankston Magistrates’ Court on

May 16 with a community

corrections order, a conditional

horse ban and five-figure costs.

The 54-year old had pleaded

guilty to five cruelty-related

charges, with another 36 struck

out.The court heard the RSPCA were

tipped off in April last year and

inspected her Somerville property,

finding around 50 horses.

They saw many of the animals

were severely underweight, and

had conditions such as lice, rain

scald, fungal infections, lameness,

sand ingestation and wounds.

There was a gross under supply

of food, with not even basic care

being provided. One of the horses, who couldn’t

stand, had to be euthanised

immediately, with two more having

to be put down later.Another 15 were seized by the

RSPCA and have been properly fed

and treated, and rehomed.

Kelly, who has since moved to

country Victoria, sobbed in court

as her lawyer Kieran Burke

defended her actions.

He said she had been vilified on

social media and had been verbally

abused by the local community.

Mr Burke said Kelly had tried to

do the right thing by rescuing

horses from sale yards and

abattoirs.“They often arrived in a very sick

way,” Mr Burke said.

“She does concede she may have

taken on more than she could

handle; she proceeded with the best

intentions.”Magistrate Julian Ayres said the

case appeared more to do with

neglect rather than a desire to hurt

any animal. “You were attempting to save

these animals from a variety of

possible fates,” Mr Ayres said.

“(You) bit off more than you

could chew … you should have

referred them to the RSPCA

immediately.”Kelly was placed on an 18-month

community corrections order,

must do 180 hours work and pay

RSPCA costs of $11,784. She was

also banned from owning more

than seven horses for 10 years, with

the disqualification and monitoring

to start January 1 next year.
