from earlier advice.
More details to follow !
Student attendance last week was way down, lets get it back up;
Percentage of students at school all week= 89% Percentage of students on time = 84% Percentage of unexplained absences = 34% All absences MUST be explained. Illness is the only valid reason for your child’s absences and punctuality, not sleeping in, shopping or movie days. Education is important but they have to be here to learn.
Do you have another child starting at
Kingsley Park next year ?
A reminder to our Kingsley families to please enrol your kindergarten child for Prep 2020. Transition dates are being organised soon so please get them enrolled. Please see Ros or Jo in the office to complete the necessary paperwork - a copy of your child’s birth certificate and immunisation form is required. Thank you.
Thank you to all our volunteers who
assisted with the Election Day BBQ. A
total of $1,142.00 was raised, well done.
All funds raised will go towards a revamp
of our play equipment for our students.
A friendly reminder to families to
please check your children’s
school bags for school resources,
such as take home books
(readers) and library books.
Returning of these items after they
have been enjoyed is a good
way to ensure our resources are available to all
children. Thank you
Thank you Mums and Special Friends for all you
do for us - here are some photo’s celebrating
your special day in our classrooms.

support. Come along and help us
serve our students the breakfast they
need to fuel their day.
TOAST MORNINGS
Don’t forget, we offer toast each
morning for students who didn't have

our environment…….. from Can you do Magic Too? By Helen Skondras.
“Hi, I’m Mr Green, I always keep the earth clean. Join me and become a wizard too, change something old into something new. Don’t throw your garbage away, separate and recycle each day. ……...let’s talk about the Rs, the 3Rs I say. The first of the Rs is the one to reduce, buy only your needs and consider its use. We must use less packaging, paper and packs, and let’s buy in bulk and we’ll surely save stacks.” What are the other two Rs? Stay tuned next week to find out more from our SRCs.
Helping Children Make and Keep Friends an article by Michael Grose Enjoying healthy relationships has a tremendous impact on your child’s wellbeing and their overall success at school. Many children who experience behavioural problems at school have difficulty interacting with their peers. Coach your child in positive social skills Children who develop healthy friendships generally have a definite set of social skills that help make them easy to like, easy to relate to and easy to play with. If your child is struggling to make friends consider coaching them using this three-pronged approach: Be open: Some children close themselves off to forming new friendships, preferring to stick to one or two friends. Encourage your child to be open to forming friendships with a wide variety of children in and outside school and in doing so encircling themselves with many friendship groups Be inclusive: Encourage your child to include a wide number of children in their games and activities rather than restricting the possibility of joining in to certain children. Healthy friendship groups are open and inclusive of others, while unhealthy relationships, such as cliques are restrictive, one-sided and full of gossip and criticism
Be aware: Encourage social awareness in your child. For instance, socially-aware children would be discrete when giving out birthday party invitations at school and being protective and sensitive to the feelings of those not invited. This level of social awareness doesn’t necessarily come naturally to all children, but it can be reinforced by parents and teachers. Encourage friendships with both genders The primary school age is an ideal time for children to form friendships with both genders. This is particularly valid if your child has siblings of their own gender, or don’t have siblings. It’s through these early relationships that we gain the confidence to mix with different genders in later life. Forming friends helps to break down the mystique that can form, when a child has
little contact with the ‘other’ gender. Understand the impact of gender on friendships Research shows that boys’ friendships groups are more inclusive and less changeable than friendships enjoyed by girls, particularly those in the eight to twelve year age group. Be prepared to support your daughter through the hurt of friendship breakdowns and remind her that new friendships are just around the corner. Help her reflect on her own place in a friendship breakdown, and be open to restoring a relationship once emotions are in check. Remember, friends of a feather flock together If you think that your child doesn’t have as many friends as a sibling or other children their own age, don’t be too alarmed. On average, children usually have only two or three significant friendships at any one time. It’s the quality rather than the quantity of friendships that counts. If you are concerned that your child lacks friends at school encourage them to take up a variety of extra-curricular activities. It’s easier to strike up a friendship with someone when you have something in common. Above all else encourage your child to be friendly by talking to others, showing an interest in what other children do, offering help when needed and being willing to enter a new game or social situation. Consider teaching your child, if necessary, alternatives to fighting and arguing when there is disagreement and conflict within groups.
Meet our Senior Team of Staff
I love being a teacher and getting to know my students throughout the year and encouraging them to challenge themselves and be resilient. I have two adult children, a cute dog called Bella, a crazy squawking bird and a pond full of fish. I love to travel and keep adding places to my bucket list. My new hobby this year is to go camping/caravaning as often as we can and explore this amazing country of ours. If you have any amazing
recommendations to great spots, please let me know. I enjoy being out in nature, keeping fit and doing yoga. I love to read and am currently reading my way through the Harry Potter series before I attend the Cursed Child production. I am excited to be teaching in the senior school, supporting and inspiring our students in the final years of their primary school life. Trish Papettas S10
I am an animal lover and visit my parents farm often, where they mainly have horses and chickens! There’s nothing better than fresh eggs! I have a British Bulldog named Gus who is super lazy, however he has found himself a new best friend in my 1 year old son, Mitchell. I love trying new things and am always the first to give something a go. This saw me take up tap dancing only a few years ago and performing at the National Theatre in St Kilda, which I loved. Tapping is a lot harder than it looks! I love travelling and have been to 15 international destinations, with plenty more on my bucket list. I love brunching with friends and my family and can often be found on weekends eating breakfast in some of the amazing cafes on the Mornington Peninsula or visiting local markets. I love music, and played the flute growing up. I am a huge fan of reading and am a real advocate for encouraging children to read, as it opens up so many doors for them. I am so excited to be part of the KPPS team and community and look forward to meeting you all.

Hello. Nice to meet you. You may have noticed me because I am the second tallest teacher in the school. For many years I was the tallest teacher, and was always called upon to get things down from shelves, remove cobwebs, and fetch footballs from tall trees. That was, until the arrival of Mr Brand, who usurped my role as number one tall-man. (No hard feelings). Apart from that, I like all things Japanezy; Astro-Boy, Sumo wrestling, shinkansen (bullet trains),
and my wife. One of my favourite things to do is hunt for little fish with my best friend Millie, a small but feisty Golden Retriever. Currently sailing a Hobie Adventure Island multi-modular kayaking trimaran, my goal is to work my way up to a super-fast Hobie 16 catamaran, and maybe take members of S13 out for a spin on a Saturday. Wish me luck!

Bonjour! I love spending my time with family and friends, especially my two beautiful nieces who I adore. I love any activity that involves water - surfing, sailing, wakeboarding, swimming, walking along the beach and
camping along rivers to name a few. For two years I studied the French language and my dream is to travel to France once day and speak the language. While I am there, I would love to see many other parts of Europe. I am a mad North Melbourne supporter and love AFL in general. I have also played basketball, netball and volleyball for most of my life. I am passionate about teaching and I hope to instil in my students; a love of learning, in-dependence and resilience in preparation for their lives ahead.

I have worked at Kingsley Park in many different roles including Year 6, Physical Education for 9 years, Middle School Year 3 & 4 classes and now in the Senior School Module. I thoroughly enjoy all aspects of Senior School Education and particularly enjoy being involved with the Summer & Winter Sports Programs, CYC City Camp
experience and extra curricula opportunities which our students can participate in across the school year involving curriculum areas, sports and personal challenges. My wife and I have four children and we always enjoy family outings together; many,
many, many, many different sporting activities across the week and though out each weekend and spending time with friends. Travel is important for our family and opportunities to be together can be challenging due to many other commitments - so these times are the most precious. 2019 will be an awesome Senior School Year and I thoroughly look forward to our Year 6 children and their families preparing for and making their successful transition in Secondary Schooling and beyond.
