Dodge County Head Start is Closed for Winter Break! (No School!)

Holy Cow! December is almost here! This year is not slowing down at all. And neither are your learners! We have been learning all about trees for the last 6 weeks. We have learned about the parts of the tree, where trees grow, what grows on trees, who lives in trees, and what trees are for. It has been fun learning about trees and all the things they do for us.

I would like all the parents to know, not just in the Purple Room, but to all the families of Head Start, it is with a heavy heart that I have decided to leave the Head Start family. I am planning on spending time with my family and hope to return to the teaching world in the near future. My final day at Head Start will be December 1, 2017. Miss Ashley, Blue Room, will be taking my place as the Purple Room teacher. I am confident that she will do an amazing job in the Purple Room as she has in the Blue Room. She has been at Head Start for 3 years now and is very qualified to assume the position as teacher. Miss Katlyn will remain in the classroom.

It has been a blessing to get to know all of you and your little learners. You all will hold a spe-cial place in my heart. Thank you for allowing me into your lives and giving me the opportunity to teach your children. I hope the rest of the year goes well and will be seeing you around. Ta for now!

Thank you all!

Miss Heather and Miss Kaitlyn

Hello from the Blue Room,

I just can’t believe the month of November is over, it just seemed like we started this year. We have been learning so much since we started school. I just want to do a friendly reminder that we do go outside everyday in the morning and in the afternoon, so please make sure your child has a winter coat on them. We do have extra gloves and hats so if you forget yours we have some but please have them wear a winter coat.

I also want to thank you all for doing such an amazing job doing and bringing back the child/parent connector homework. This is an amazing time for you and your learner to spend some time togeth-er and for them to learn too.

We have been doing our building study and the children really enjoyed it lots. They liked learning how to make houses, buildings, and what material they would need for it. We are finishing that study now and we will start off with a new study. We let the children vote on the next study they wanted to learn about and they decided it would be about Balls. So we will be investigating and learning about what a ball is, what’s inside a ball, how they are made, if they are the same and what makes them different.

We are all having fun learning together! Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you again for letting us teach your children every day they are so much fun!

Purple Room News

The months just seem to be going by faster and faster! Thank you all for coming in to complete parent teacher conferences. This past month we finished up our tree unit study. The kids had a great time with it. Ask your child what the parts of a tree are, or what kinds of animals live in or near trees. Our numbers were 10-13, we looked at letters H, R, M and D, colors green, red, yellow and blue and shapes of octagon, square, hexagon and circle. Coming in December we are starting our unit study on bread. We will look at what we know about bread, how is bread made and what kinds of bread we like. Our letters will be G, O, and L, our numbers will be 14-16, our colors will be grey, brown and green and our shapes will be oval, triangle and star.

Please remember you are more than welcome to come have lunch with your child. Just check with Ms. Sandy at the front desk to set this up. Remember the parent-child connectors are a great way for you to help your child further their learning and also help Head Start with In Kind. The children receive a prize out of the prize bucket whenever they return a parent-child connector. With winter upon us please make sure your child is dressed warm-ly. It’s time to dig out those warm coats, hats, boots and scarves if you have them. All children will use Head Start mittens when it starts snowing and we go outside. This is for two reasons: 1. So their own mittens don’t get lost and 2. So their own mittens won’t be wet when they go home.

The children have been working hard on our songs for our winter program. We hope to see you all here on De-cember 19th at 5:00.

Have a great December!

Miss Laura and Miss Dawn

Red Room News

Hello from the Yellow Room! I can’t believe that November is over and

December is here. Before we know it we will be looking at the New Year!

In the Yellow Room we finished our tree study. Through this study the children

learned parts of the tree, what trees give us and how they change. We are starting the clothes study where we will focus on types of clothing, different fabrics they are made of,

and what types of clothing we wear for all kinds of weather.

I want to thank all of the families that met with me during parent teacher conferences;

I enjoyed sharing all the progress your child has made so far during this school year!

Please mark these dates down on your calendar:

Monday, December 18 at 5:00- Winter Program (Children are working on songs to share with you!)

December 25 through Jan 5- Winter Break (Enjoy this time together!)

Monday January 8, 2018- First day of school after the Winter Break.

Please keep working on the Parent Child connectors and sending them back to school. Remember there is no expiration date, and winter break would be a great time to get

caught up on the ones that are not completed.

Miss Tammy, Miss Myranda, and Miss Leticia
