Beginning in October, 2017, thanks to a law co-sponsored by Assemblyman Perry, some individuals convicted of an eligible offense may request to have their records sealed if they have not been convicted of another crime for a period of ten years from the day they were sentenced or released from jail/prison (whichever is later). In November, Assemblyman Perry visited Brook-dale Hospital to cut the ribbon on state-of-the-art CT scanner that will be housed in the hospital’s Oncology/Radiology Department. The cancer fighting tool was purchased with a $535,000 state grant secured by As-semblyman Perry.

“I’m quite delighted that I was able to secure funding to purchase this state-of-the-art CT Scanner which I’m told is being put to good use here at Brookdale,” said Perry. “This innovative piece of diagnostic equipment will help doctors determine the best course of action and continue to help Brookdale flourish, and improve the health of the people and communities they serve.”

Brookdale physicians and staff are confident the new machinery will help them deliver world-class care and provide a better treatment for their cancer patients. The new scanner will allow them to treat more patients and

enable radiologists to take X-ray measurements from different angles, and produce cross-sectional images of specific areas of a scanned object, allowing them to better see the tumor without having to invasively cut into a patient to determine the location.

During this time of year we all could use a little extra money in our pockets, and even in modest amounts, it can really make a difference in the lives of everyday New Yorkers.

Seasons Greetings: This is indeed a magical time of the year, and while our nation remains quite divided, and we pray every day for strength to endure and triumph over the bigotry and embrace of hate by the President of our great nation, I think we can all agree that there is no time of year like the Christmas holiday, particularly in New York City. While the nights do grow colder and the darkness falls around us much earlier, we gain warmth and light from the spirit of this season of charity and goodwill, and the message of hope and joy to the world.

While Christians celebrate the birth of Christ, and some African-Americans celebrate Kwanzaa, there will always be some who cannot join in the cheer without help from others who have been blessed. Yes, there will always be some in need, and yes, charity should still be the essence of our holiday spirit. So please let us spread the true message of the season by helping up someone who is down and in need of a lift.

As 2018 fades into our memory, I want you to know that I remain deeply humbled and honored by you allowing me the privilege of serving as your member from the 58th Assembly District. I thank you for your continued trust in me and look forward to continue working for you during the next legislative term.

In the spirit of the season, may you and all your loved ones enjoy good health, happiness and prosperity, and be safe with God’s richest blessing throughout the holidays and the New Year.

As is my custom since you elected me, I will be taking the Oath of Office to begin my new term during an Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service, which begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by a Gala Thank You Dinner Party on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Holy Family R.C. Church Auditorium, 9719 Flatlands Avenue. You are invited to join me. You should receive your personal invitation in the mail shortly. Please note that while the mail may be addressed to one family member, it invites any family member who wishes to attend.

My best wishes for a most enjoyable holiday season, and may God bless you and bless our great nation, state and city.
