• Collaboration and alignment between the interests of commissioners and delivery organisations is crucial
• Moving away from process-driven commissioning
• Will evolve over time!

WHY MEASURE SOCIAL VALUE?
• Local providers can build a case that they really do add value which other providers cannot deliver
• Commissioners are in a position to:
– Identify which providers are able to deliver social value
– Prioritise social value as a criteria for commissioning, because it can be assessed against other concerns
– Have confidence about commissioning for social value because it is possible to articulate and evidence some of the more intangible benefits

• The Social Value Act is a great opportunity to embed what really matters at the heart of commissioning.
• Social value can be hard to pin down but there are ways to define and measure it that can give commissioners greater confidence.
• Local organisations are well placed, but will need to measure and evidence social value.
• There are lots of tools and resources out there to help—start with the easy things first.
