Don’t Miss God’s Rest

• Hebrews written to Jewish (Hebrew!) believers• Their confidence in Jesus had been undermined by

false teaching • God wants his people to enjoy his ‘rest’ – Matt 11:28

‘Come to me you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.’

Don’t Miss God’s Rest

• Their confidence in Jesus had been undermined by false teaching

• God wants his people to enjoy his ‘rest’ – Matt 11:28

• Many believers don’t experience and enjoy this rest – Not because of nature or Nurture

– But because unbelief • Eg: Israelites in desert - Heb 3:7f

• See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. Heb 3:12

• Having been saved by faith we must continue to live by faith.

• Ultimately it’s about whether you really trust his character
