YOU ARE IN THE MINISTRY. Everyone wthe Holy Ghost is in th e ministry. That is whhave the Holy Ghost. God was speaking about youHe said, "But ye shall receive power, after theGhost is come upon You: and Ye shall be witnesseme both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Saand to the uttermost part of the earth," (Ac ts 1Suppose that someone would take a nice, newsandwich , before a crowd of real hungry peoplthrow it down in the dirt and s tamp on it ! You may witness to people on th e job, at sin the street, on the t ra in , the plane, even whi leare on your vacation. You may minis ter to theman, ice-man, groceryman, postman, and to youployer. with God, pray until you feel th e urge to exhor t; thenexhort! Exhort your - h u s b ~ n d ; exhor t your wife; ex-hort your children; exhort the neighbor. "These thingst each and exhort" ( I Tim. 6 :2). E;xhort one anotherdaily (Heb. 3 :13), 'Ti l I come give attendance to reading, to exhortation ... neglect not the gift that is inthee ..." (I Tim. 13 :14) "... but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day approaching" (Reb. 10:25). To exhort means, as 'youurge, warn; and a d v i s e ~"He that giveth, let him do i t with s impl icity ."(v. 8) . So givihg is one of the gifts. Not everyone seeks

for thi s g if t, bu t it i s a blessed one! "I t is more blessedto give." Seek fo r this gift if you want God to love you;for God loves a cheerful giver. I know some folk wholove to give and have an urge t o give. Sometimes I believe they' have the min is try o f giving. Everyone is nottrusted with this minis try. Theywould not spend God'smoney wisely if they had a chance. They will not beled by the Spirit. I t i,s a very responsible place in whichto be. God will never be in debt to us. We cannot givewithout God giving it back to us (Luke 6:38). We cannot out-give God. :Show me a man who gives much andI will show you a man who has much. Many people intend to give to God when they get alot of money. But they always find a place to invest thatmoney so they can make "more money fo r God." Thesepeople never give much. They die intending to have alot to give God "someday."

One man told a minister th at if he had ten hogs hewould give the Lovd hal f o f them."What would you do if you had six hogs?""I'd give God two of them," answered the man."Suppose you had four hogs?""I'd give God two of them," answered th e man."What would you do if you had two hogs?""Listen here," replied the man, "You know good and

is a gift from God. We m,ay ALL let th e Holy Spiritintercede through us (Rom. 28:29). We ar e ALL COMMANDED' to shut ourselves in our secret closets andpray (Matt. 6 :6). If we say we know God and do notkeep His commandments we ar e a li ar and t he truth isnot in us ( I John 2 :4).

God said for us to pray one for another that we maybe hea led (James 5 :15). That includes YOU. He saidth e BELIEVERS can lay hands on the sick and t hey"shall recover." That includes YOU! (Mk. 16 :17).EVERYONE OF US MAY HAVE THE SPIRITUAL

GIFTS WORKING IN OUR LIVES. Speaking of thespiri tual gifts He says, "But the manifestation of theSpirit is given to EVERYONE to profit withal" ( I Cor.12 :7) . That means YOU.Paul commended the Corinthians because they came

behind in no gift ( I Cor. 1 : 7) . EVERYONE OF THEMHAD A GIFT ( I Cor. 14 :26)."How is it then, brethren? When ye come together,

God had you in mind when He said, "Teaching themto observe all things whatsoever I have commandedyou; and, 10, I am wit h you alway, even to the end ofthe world." (Matt . 18:20).What did He command them to do? He commanded

them to receive the power of the Holy Ghost (Acts1 :4). He says if we love Him to keep His commandments and He will send us the Holy Ghost (John14 :15-16).What did He command them to do? He commanded

them to preach, to heal th e sick by God's powe r, t o6

A spring of water that is busy running, giving of fwater, continually receives more. I t always has a freshsupply. There is no stagnant water. In the Early Church everyone worked, even the deacons and th e saints. If we have the New Testament experience we will see the New Testament results. The members should keep their pastor busy baptizing people on Sunday night whom they have won toGod during the week. Why do members watch television, vis it , talk, eat, until service t ime and then go to church in the natural

with everything on the ir mind? Why do they si t thereto be entertained? Why do they have the idea thatthey can pay the preacher to do their praying, preaching, visiting, and personal work? Paul' s members hadthe g if ts and were r eady to be used of God th e minutethey arr ived at church. Paul did not have to prime, praise, pull, and pump to ge t people to pray and praiseGod! Paul was not in a nervous tension, afraid thathe would be voted out . He did not seek to entertain themembers in order to keep them, so they wouldn't jointhe o ther side of the split!

We can't pull thi s thing off and pu t it on as suddenly as we do our overcoats. We can't leave it at th echurch house door to be picked up again at any time.We can't push a button and have the anointing as suddenly as we step on the starter of our car. We can'tl isten to people, hear the radio, or read th e newsp, aperall day and tell the people what God said when we ge tto church!THE REMEDY IS SIMPLE: Many times the members know that they will only be entertained by a privileged few who have per sona li ty and talents . Maybe

they will have a new song or a different program ora visiting 'minister, bu t most o f the time it is th e sameprogram. So the members don't fear God. They are notGod conscious. They don't fast and seek God to preparethemselves for the service. If they always have a chance to yield to God, an op

portunity in each service to obey the Spi ri t; if theyknow they have a place in th e service to obey the Lord8

they will prepare themselves in prayer. They wilhave something to contribute to the service. Whenge t a blessing they will return. If a sheep is fed hcome back again. When we are in one accord Pentecost will be pgated.

    Chapter II

Since we have learned that everyone is in the ministry in some way, or in some form, we need to also understand that God has a definite way in which He prepares us f or thi s life of service. I want you to knowthat from the very beginning He is mindful of YOU.He wants to train YOU. There is a schooling forEVERYONE of us. I believe in Bible schools, but theschooling of which I am speaking is Isomething that noBible school gives.God took Moses through the school on the back sideof the desert. Moses fir:st learned to take care of sheepbefore he was trusted with the care of God's people.

At the age of forty, after Moses had finished the highest school of the land, he said, "Look who I am!" Hebegan in hi.s own strength, with his own natural talents. After he had gone through God's school of train-ing he humbly said, "Who am I? " Then he went in thestrength and power of the Lord. He told the Lord hedid not want to go without His pre sence and power.Moses moved on his miss ion with the ministry of mir-acles.Jacob was sent through twenty-two year s of t rain-ing, unt il his old -nature was killed, unt il God gave him

a new nature. Then he had power with God. He waschiseled until he cried out to God and received a changeof att itude.David was trained in the wilderness several yearsbefore he went to the throne to rule. Every generalthe a rmy should first be a private and work himselfp, holding every office. Then he can understand eachhis men. A soldier a lways goes through the training

he gets to the front lines. Sometimes the sO'ldierif he is doing much good when he is stationed

f on some little island fo r several months. Bu t finallye battle comes around that way. If he sees no actionr awhile he is sti ll in the service, and his place is imEvery pastor should first get ,some experience in

being a teacher, superintendent, or deacon. Thensay, "I sa t where they sit."Jesus was tempted in all points as we are. He

just how we feel. He went through thirty yearsparati0u for th e ministry. After I felt -my call inministy God led me into business and let mestand about dealing with people unt il I was thirtyof age before He let me take up this minis try.say that everyone must wait until they are thirtyold to preach. There are certa in phases o f t he mwhich takes different training than others. An old maid who never reared chi ldren is notfied to tell others how children should be rearman who never pastored can't t ell a -man how toA man who was never an evangelist should nottell us how to hold a revival. A man who never cdevils can't understand our actions sometimes.may be preachers; they may be good men, buhave never sa t where we sit. Jesus told His deven after they had been in the minis try of hthe s ick and cas ting ou t devils, "I have many thisay unto you, bu t you cannot bear them now."Peter could no t understand some of the thingsPaul went through, or some f his actions. Htempted to criticize. There are some things otheisters go through I don't understand, bu t I hatermined to never criticize them. "Speak evilman" (Titus 3:2). We will not ge t very fa r in thistry if we criticize the o ther man. To his ownhe stands or falls. I t takes all our time to keeselves straight. God has permitted me to go ththings which some of my best brethren could nderstand. Why did they misunderstand me? Bthe only thing which can cut a diamond is anothmond. Weare all diamonds in the rough being cshape. We will shine in e te rn ity!

Jesus said he of His own house lifted up hagainst Him. One day people said, "Hosanna, hosThe next day they cried, "Crucify Him, crucifyAt one time all forsook Him except His disciplethey also forsook Him!

At one time Peter was misunderstood and came verynear losing his papers fo r going to another denominat ion to preach.

Paul was misunderstood. One day they thought hewas a god; the next minute they wanted to stone him!One time they wanted to pull their eyes out and givethem to Paul. Later they wanted to pull h is eyes out!One tinle they thought he was a criminal; the next minute they changed their mind and said he was a god!One time he said all men had forsaken him. Only Lukewas with him.Samson told the children of Israel he could whip

all his enemies if they would stay off him. When hewas bound his own people finally bound him.Job stood things pretty well until his wife turnedagainst him. David' s own son chased him into the wilderness. All these things ar e the making of a man'sministry. The servant is not above his Lord. When outsiders do something against us itJ does no t hurt us asbadly as when our own people misunderstand. Fo rawhile we may think they are backslidden, and we maythink they have gone wrong. Elijah at one time felt thateveryone was wrong bu t him. God was preparing himfor a work. We learn then to depend on God and Godalone. People won't do to depend on in many cases.A diamond cuts a diamond. Sometimes God permitstwo of His children with different personalities to berubbed together. This takes of f all the rough bumps. In th e last days some will fal l to tr y others. Some willeven b e ~ i n to ea t and drink with the drunken. Manywill fal l that others may be white, tried and foundfaultless. Our fai th can 't be shaken if it is in the r ightperson. The bride will not have a blemish. M"any people are not wil ling to be purged so that they may bringforth more fruit. We should always be willing to givethanks ~ everything. We should say "Amen, thank Y'lULord; this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerningme" a lthough we may not understand why God perit s things to come our way. He sees how we act incircumstance. He is faithful to never let us bete'mpted above that we ar e able. With the temptation

    12

(when it arrives) there is also a way for ourthat we may be able to bear it ( I Cor. 10:13). Heus able. He does not keep us from it. He gives usshoulders and lets us go through instead of let tstay weaklings and go around it. Daniel was nlivered from the lion's den. He went through it.grow, later on we C8,n look back and laugh atwe cry about now. What is a temptation and trianow would not eff ec t us a year f rom now. Thgrow! I was chiseled, beat, misstood, talked about, kicked, hi t, and cursed.drew knives, guns , brick bat s, rocks, and ice picme. I said, "Amen, thank you Lord, this is theGod concerning me." Then one day God le t meSince then I have seen miracles, signs and woI have seen thousands filled wit h the Spirit. H

When he can see, his imagein it then at that second he pulls th e f ir e f rom under it.When Jesus sees His image in us, when all th e drossburns out, th en He removes the trials from us at thatsecond! Job says, "I shall come forth as gold." (Job23:10) .

Jesus is coming after a purified people, without spotor blemish, or any such thing. He is coming for overcomers.

Overcoming one thing gives us power to overcomeanother . By overcoming that we receive power to overcome something else. There is a reward to him thatovercometh. If we overcome as Jesus overcame we cansi t with Him on His throne even as Jesus overcameand sa t with His Father on His throne. How can weovercome as He overcame? He overcame by saying,"I t is written." I t took t he Bap tism of the Holy Ghost

How can we help ou r members through things whichhave not experienced, or things which we ar e not

Being a young convert, wexperience, he soon lost th e chur ch and backshould have first le t him ge t some e ~ p e r i e n c e ining a class. He could have served as a deacon orperintendent. After he learned th e tricks of S ata smaller scale then he could have pastored. My dad at one time was a blacksmith. I sasharpen plows several times. Then he would tthem. He would pu t the plow into th e fire. If it wsoft he would pu t it into th e water to harden it.he would pu t it on th e anvil and chisel it. If it wehard he would put it back into the fire. Afterit would be the r ight cplor. I t was tempered justThen it could be used fo r plowing and cultivatingt hr ough any k ind o f wea the r, cold or hot, wet oin new or old ground.

After we a r saved, before God can use us veryHe first tempers us. He allows us to go into thof trials and temptations. If we ar e too soft Hus into th e water. We become soaked a n saturathe living waters of the Holy Ghost. Somet imbecome so hard that we criticize other people win th e same condition in which we used to be.God puts us back into th e fire. We then learn topathize with others. He puts us on th e anvil ansomeone chisel us and cu t us into shape. Thenwe are tempered just right He uses us to he lpgreat harvest field.

Sometimes the plow is not made of th e rightial. Sometimes people re fus e to be tempered.plow refuses to be tempered it is thrown into t hpile. I f we fail to be tempered; if we become liman of whom I was speaking, who failed in pasthe church, then we are thrown into the junk. Twhere many people ar e today.

The next chapter shows us how God gets usplace He can use us. Are you interested? Thenwith me.

STAY IN GOD'S SERVICEWhy are we saved? Why do we have the Holy Ghost?

wants us to have it in His service. Some seem towe are going to heaven to float on a cloud andharp. But that is not the main thing . God saidwe would be as angels in heaven (Mark 12 :25).makes me feel good! He makes His angels minisspirits (Heb. 1 :4). So we are go ing to heavenminister.God can trust His angels to do what He tells themo do. All the rebellious angels have been cast ou t ofeaven. The Lord ended rebellion forever in heaven.

{s as the sin of witchcraft ( I Sam. 15:23) .will be no rebellion in heaven. God is also goingend it forever on earth. When God tells His angels to do something they do itaway. They don 't half do it. They don't argue

say they can 't . They don't testify that they failod everyday. They don't argue that they have to sinry day. They don' t go around telling people, "I can'tey God; the devil has been after me all day, praisename; I fail God every day ; p ray forme that Ill hold ou t faithful." Enoch had this tes timony thate pleased God. Hezekiah told God he had lived fo rim (Isa. 38 :3). Paul said, "I have fought a good

ght ." John said, "And whatsoever we ask, we reof Him, because we keep His commandments, andthose things that are pleasing in His sight" ( I John) . His commandments are not grievous. Only the

y of the transgressor is hard. The transgressor shalle dest royed (Ps. 37 :38) .I f we are fai thful in that which is least we will alsofaithful in much. I f we are not faithful in the leaste will not be faithful in much. If we can't serve Godptably down here how can He trust us with thathich is eternal? No, we'll be thrown into the junk ife fail. " I f therefore ye have not been faithful in themammon, who will commit to your truste true riches?" (Luke 16:11).WHAT WE LEARN ABOUT THE WORD OF GOD

HOW DO I KNOW WHETHER OR NOT I AMHEALED AFTER I AM PRAYED FOR?

We can know by hearing you talk. If you are notaled you will be saying things like these: "Keep pray-g for me." "If I am ever healed I will be gl:;d." "I

Say, "Yougive all my s ins and heal all my diseases." I t is notto say what God says.I t is all right for you to talk to the devil. Say, "Therd delivers me out of all my afflictions." Point to the

Point and show Satanere you accepted your deliverance, just as you pointthe place and time you were forgiven of your sin.I pray for a lady and she comes up to me andys, "Do you think I am healed 7" I say, "What do you

A question marka doubt. You must se t a t ime and a place for your delivePut it behind you just as you pu t your salvationyou. If a man says to me, "Keep p ray ing for mI will ge t rid of this sin," then I know that hesaved. Suppose immediately after I pray for hsays, "No one knows how sinful I am," or "Theof mine trouble me all nigh t. I won't sleep tonigcause of these awful sins which have me boundI won't believe that he is saved, because he dobelieve it. He does not have the right testimony.one knows that he is not saved. If you talk thaabout your pain and your sickness I don't considhealed. You have whatever you say. (Mark 11 :23). Wheart you believe; with the mouth you confessalvation. Salvation includes both soul and bodyfell soul and body. Jesus redeemed us soul and bodid not come to half way redeem us.

"Theyseek the Lord shall not lack any good thing." If 'talk lack I am turning a deaf ear to God's great pro:mes and statements. I must not t rample his promisesfoot!

How can I talk failure when He says that Iall things through Christ who strengthens me toIf I say, "I can't," I am saying what the devil sGod says I can, then I must teach myself tocan."
