Taking Math concepts and Math games to a whole new dimension. Students will discover the infinite joys of working with math. The day is balanced with fun games, literature, and work in their individual journals. In addition, there will be time for enrichment activities such as cook-ing and art. Limited to 10 students each week.

From the old house in Paris covered in vines, we’ll learn about France with our friend Madeline! We’ll learn some French words and explore beautiful Paris, and we’ll learn that we always should say “Merci!” We’ll read of Madeline’s next adventures, too, and then we’ll create crafts and sample some Madeleines - Whew! We will conclude with an optional Madeline’s Tea Party with parents or loved ones when you pick up your child on the last day of class. Limited to 8 students each week.

FunCamp is a summer program offered to Early Childhood students entering Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten. Each session includes projects and activities related to a theme. It is an exciting opportunity for social, physical, and academic growth. It is also a time to see old friends and make new ones. FunCamp is open to non-Lamplighter friends as well.

FunCamp consists of two, 2-week sessions from 8:00 a.m. until 12 noon, Monday - Friday, during the month of June. FunCamp 2018 dates and themes are as follows: June 4-15: Adventures at Sea and June 18-29: Princesses and Knights

FunCamp Extensions for Rising Kindergarteners This summer, Lamplighter will offer four 1-week afternoon sessions for rising Kindergarten students who are enrolled in morning FunCamp. The sessions run from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, and require enrollment in morning FunCamp, as well as enrollment in the Lunch & Recess extension from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. The class fee for each afternoon class is $125. The fee for each Lunch & Recess session is $35.

Are you ready to rock? This camp is designed for beginning students who have the passion to learn how to play the acoustic guitar. Students will learn basic techniques as well as being able to read a chord sheet. This course will require additional practice outside of the camp hours, in order to perform songs from bands like American Authors, The White Stripes, and AC/DC. Private lessons will be offered by Vibrant Sounds School of Music once camp is completed in order to continue the student’s growth and passion for playing the guitar. Let’s rock!

Students will need to purchase their own guitar and bring it with them to camp every day. Local stores to visit to get the right size guitar for your child include Guitar Center and Sam Ash Music. Guitars can be purchased online at www.kraftmusic.com.

For the past 12 years, Doctor Who has screened holiday specials, so to beat off the summer heat, we’re going to take several adventures into winter wonderlands, strange ice worlds, and beyond! Revisit some of your favorite monsters including The Sycorax, The Empress of Racnos, The Ood, Max Capricorn, The Cybermen, & The Harvest Rangers! The French are world-famous for their food -- both for the way they prepare it, and for their love of eating it. We’ll do both! We’ll learn some French as we practice measuring, reading a recipe, and learning techniques. See the incredible food designs created by Antonin Carême, the father of French cuisine and Chef of the Kings! We’ll set the table à la française and practice French table manners as we cook, bake and taste French foods. Bon appétit!

Do you like to laugh? Do you like making other people laugh? The Funny Farmers Comedy Troupe is just for you! It’s Lamplighter’s own version of Saturday Night Live! We write and rehearse a completely new sketch comedy show every week on a particular theme. Each week is different so sign up for as many as you like. As always, a final performance of all student work will take place at the end of each week, so join us for a new show every Friday this summer!

Draw the newest aliens for the Senate or the Mos Eisley cantina! We have X, Y, A, and B Wings, but can you design ships for all the other letters of the alphabet? Fly the Death Star trench in a fighter of your own design! Follow the teachings of Master Yoda as we explore parts from all the movies! From classical to pop and even to jazz and rock, campers will learn about the history of keyboards and famous composers. Let’s make a little magic of our own this summer as we transform Lamplighter into Hogwallers, the American branch campus of Hogwarts. No Slytherin or Gryffindor here (we’ve got our own house names). We will seek out our own wands and master the arts of spell casting. We’ll play an impromptu game of street level Quidditch. We might even sample a few Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans. Brush up on your Potter trivia and prepare for a wizard duel or two!

Learn about her life in France and of the things, places and people that influenced how she transformed herself and the world around her. We’ll encounter French geography, vocabulary, and phrases through stories, games & activities. Bring fabric, beads, and trims from home to design and create a hat, bag, or clothing for

Almost as long as there have been superhero comics, there have also been superhero cartoons in the movies and on TV. Less than two years after he premiered in Action Comics #1, Superman made his cartoon debut. Grab your sketchpad and pencils as we learn about and watch some of the greatest superhero cartoons of all time from the 1940’s to the present, all the while doodling and creating new adventures for our favorite heroes and heroines. We’ll even doodle and scrawl a few original adventures of our own and create a new super hero comic book!

This is going to be a sweet summer camp! Seriously. Each day, students will step into the kitchen and transform into pastry chefs. Not only will we make traditional baked goods, we’ll enhance them with additional culinary delights. If you’re a fan of brownies and ice cream and cupcakes and other sweet treats, this is the camp for you.

Students use their creativity to produce their very own stop motion animation project. Using iCreate software and special camera mounts, students will capture their story one frame at a time.
