Sir,I am directed to say that the Ministry of Agriculture, Department of

Agriculture and Cooperation had constituted a Committee under the Chairmanshipof Dr. P. K. Mishra, Ex-Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Cooperation,Government of lndia on 1Oth September, 2013 to examine the loopholes in theimplementation of the crop insurance schemes and suggest measures for theirremoval.

The Committee has examined all the relevant aspects of the problems andchallenges in the implementation of Crop Insurance Schemes including Terms ofReference (ToR) assigned to them and submitted their report entitled "Report ofthe Committee to review the lmplementation of Crop lnsurance Schemes inIndia" to this Department. The Report of the Committee is available on the websiteof this Department (latest updates):. http://www.asl,icoop.qi,c.in. However, a copy ofthe Report is also sent herewith for your ready reference.

It is requested that the Report of the Committee may kindly be examinedand comments/views, if any, on various recommendations/suggestions as containedtherein may please be furnished to this Department as early as possible andpreferable by 30th June,2014 so that further necessary action to carry out furtherimprovements in the ongoing crop insurance schemes is taken.
