    Ph.D. Curriculum and Instruction (with a specialization in Instructional Technology),

    University of Texas, USA

    M.Ed. Educational Communications and Technology, University of Hawaii, USA

    Dr. Kathy Jackson is a Faculty Programs Researcher at the Pennsylvania State Universitys

    Teaching and Learning with Technology Unit. In this position, she collaborates with faculty

    on the scholarship of teaching and learning through various research projects and she provides

    faculty development. Particular current areas of collaboration and research include

    instructional design, evaluation, engineering education and learner support. She is a

    Co-Principal Investigator on a National Science Foundation funded cyberlearning and

    sustainability education project. In addition, Dr. Jackson is an Affiliate Faculty in Penn States

    Higher Education Department where she teaches a class on college teaching.

    Abstract

    With strategic goals of innovation, faculty development, learning spaces development,

    research, and inspiring excellence, the Pennsylvania State Universitys Teaching and Learning

    with Technology Unit is transforming teaching and learning. These goals are driven by current

    challenges and the desire to address todays students needs. In this talk, Dr. Kathy Jackson

    will share some of these challenges and solutions.

    An Analysis of Table PC Learning Log for Understanding

    Students' Behavior - Kyoto ICT-based Education Project

    M.S. and Ph.D. Informatics, Kyoto University

    His research interest include computer vision, image processing and machine learning,

    particularly, applications of these fields, such as primary industries and educational fields.

    Abstract

    An advantage of ICT-based education is that students learning process can be observed as

    learning logs in daily learning. With learning analytics, we can understand the students

    behavior that is necessary to perform personalized education. We are starting a research

    project Kyoto ICT-based Education Project -, that aims at developing an educational model

    for ICT-based education in elementary and secondary education. In this talk, we introduce our

    research project, and report some findings from analysis of tablet PC learning logs.
