DUAL PURPOSE DUO WITH SERIOUS OFF-ROAD PERFORMANCEThe new KLX150BF and KLX150, successors to the KLX150L and KLX150 respectively, offer riders serious off-road performance for riding in the jungle and on other off-road trails. A simple, yet reliable air-cooled single-cylinder engine and highly rigid, box-section perimeter frame are complemented by large-diameter wheels. Riders have two wheel sizes to choose from. The KLX150 uses 19” front and 16” rear to overcome obstacles encountered on the trail. The larger-diameter wheels (21” front and 18” rear) and inverted front fork of the KLX150BF offer an even higher level of off-road performance.

Both machines offer a slim, compact package with low seat height, comfortable riding position and low-effort controls, resulting in bikes that are easy to ride for new riders and satisfying for experienced riders. Racy, KX-inspired styling further adds to pride in ownership, and, for the KLX150BF, a special edition model has looks that even more closely resemble Kawasaki’s factory motorcross racers.

* Bore and stroke of 58.0 x 54.4 mm yield a displacement of 144 cm3.* Keihin NCV24 carburettor ensures smooth throttle response.
* Forged piston is lightweight and very tough, for low reciprocating weight.
* Secondary air system contributes low exhaust emissions.
* Exhaust emissions clear Euro-III emissions regulations. A larger catalyser (located at the silencer entrance) ensures emissions regulations continue to be met with the shorter gearing.

Engine
* Silencer features an oval cross-section, giving it a sharp, aggressive design. (Photo 1)
* Electric starter ensures quick, hassle-free starting. A kick starter is also featured, providing a reliable back-up should battery power be low. (Photo 2)
* 5-speed transmission ensures there is a gear for every situation, enabling quick pick-up when accelerating from a stop, and relaxed cruising ability when riding at higher speeds.
* Shorter final gearing care of larger rear sprockets (and smaller front sprocket for the KLX150) than those of their predecessors (KLX150: 46/14 vs 43/15; KLX150BF: 52/14 vs 47/14) focuses the engine’s performance in the low-mid rpm range. This contributes to increased off-road performance, the stronger low-end enabling riders to continue moving forward even when navigating tricky off-road trails.
* 5-plate clutch uses three different types of friction plates to ensure durability while reducing clutch noise.

Highly Rigid Perimeter Frame Large-diameter Wheels & Tyres: 2 Available Choices* The high rigidity, compact size and light weight of the steel perimeter
frame offer excellent handling qualities and contribute to easy manoeuvrability.
* Chassis dimensions are based on the KLX150L, with a wheelbase of 1,340 mm for the KLX150BF and 1,355 mm (1,345 in THA/PHL) for the KLX150.
* High ground clearance (295 mm on the KLX150BF; 255 mm on the KLX150) facilitates trail riding.
* Lower seat height on the KLX150 (825 mm compared to 870 mm on the KLX150BF) offers easier accessibility to shorter riders.
* Short 2.1 m turning radius translates to easy manoeuvrability both on the trail and in the city.
* Large-diameter wheels of the KLX150, measuring 19” and 16” for the front and rear respectively, offer excellent off-road riding potential.
* On the KLX150BF, larger-diameter wheels, measuring 21” at the front and 18” at the rear, are even better able to overcome obstacles encountered on off-road trails, offering considerably improved off-road performance.

* The KLX150BF aluminium wheels each feature 36 spokes, ensuring sufficient wheel strength. Bead stopper hole and plug added to the rims enable riders to use bead stoppers should they so choose.

Brakes* Petal disc brakes front and rear, just like Kawasaki’s KX models,
contribute to strong braking performance.
* A ø240 mm front disc gripped by a twin-piston caliper offers strong, easy-to-control braking.

* Slowing the rear, a single-piston caliper operates a ø190 mm disc. (Photo 8)
* Front and rear calipers use sintered brake pads, which offer improved off-road wear characteristics compared to resin pads.
* A combination of form and function, the frame was also designed to be easy to grip with the legs, offering superior chassis control to the rider.
* Handlebar positions the grips 13 mm higher and 32 mm farther apart. The new position contributes to increased off-road riding comfort, and helps reduce fatigue when riding on tough trails.
* The handlebar is rubber-mounted for reduced vibration transferred to the rider’s hands. Further, the upper triple clamp and handle clamp are separate pieces, making it easier to install an aftermarket handlebar.
* Throttle grips are the same as those on our top-class MX racers. Raised pattern on half of the surface makes them easier to grip.

* Handy tool box located on the inside of the left side cover features everything necessary for quick, on-the-spot maintenance jobs.
* Passenger footpegs are equipped standard, enabling easy two-up riding.
* The flat design of the tank and seat gives the rider greater freedom of movement when changing riding position, and facilitates sitting farther forward.
* Like our KX racers, both bikes feature two-tone seat leather: a dappled slip-resistant top surface for good grip when seated, and smooth sides for excellent rider mobility.
Other Practical Features* Seams between the shrouds, seat and side covers are very flush, which facilitates control as well as moving around on the bike. (Photo 9)

RACY MX STYLINGThe racy styling of the new KLX150BF and KLX150 was inspired by the design of Kawasaki’s KX motocrossers, and in particular the KX450F. Their more aggressive design is a reflection of their off-road prowess.

Bodywork
* Racy front fender contributes to the bikes’ aggressive, sporty looks.
* Radiator shrouds feature a two-piece design. Their minimalist design means they are small and are slim where they come in contact with the rider’s legs.
* Minimalist side covers were also made as small as possible.
* KX-inspired two-tone seat contributes to racy looks and adds a high-quality image. Together with the shrouds, its pattern creates a line that flows from the front to the rear of the bike.
* Sharp new headlamp design features a 35/35 W halogen bulb. A new meter visor contributes to the aggressive looks. (Photo 11)
