ConcertperformancesarescheduledatBurkeHighSchoolasanextensionoftheregularclassroom.Partofthelearningprocessincludesliveperformance.*Calltimeforconcertsisnormally30-60minutespriortotheconcert.Planforenoughtimetobedressedinconcertattire,assembleyourinstrument,andtowarm-upandtune.Wewillalsomakeadditionalannouncementsatthattime.

B. Mostconcertswilllastapproximatelyonehour.Thestudentsareexpectedtobe

presentfortheentireprogram.Wealsoencouragetheaudiencetobecourteoustoallofthestudentsperformingontheprogrambystayingfortheentireconcert.

UniformsMarching/HonorsConcertBand/PrepBandBurkeHighBandshavealong-standingtraditionofnotonlysoundinggood,butlookinggood.Partofmaintainingthistraditionistakingcareoftheuniformsissuedtostudents.Studentswillbeassignedauniformbyourbanduniformcommitteeafterhavingitfitted. StudentsARENOTtotakeuniformshomeunlessgivenspecialpermissionbythedirectors.Uniformswillbekeptintheuniformstorageroomlocatedinthebandroomandwillbecheckedinandoutforeachevent.Whiletheuniformischeckedouttothestudent,he/sheisresponsibleforanydamage/lossoftheuniformoranypartsoftheuniform.Theband’sappearanceisthefirstfactorthatpeopleconsiderwhenjudgingabandandthisevaluationtakesplacebeforethefirstnoteisplayed.Wheninuniform,studentsareEXPECTEDtoweartheuniformcorrectly.Nostudentshouldbeviewedbythepublicoutofuniform.Studentsshouldhavepantsfastened,jacketsonandzipped.Iftheensemblehashatson,theyaretobeworncorrectly.

A. Studentswillwearathleticshortsorlongjohnsunderneaththeuniformsonly!Studentscannotwearanytypeofjeanshorts,bluejeans,orlongpantsbecausetheywillpullouttheseamsanddamagetheuniforms.

B. StudentswillwearBurkeMarchingBand2017showshirtsonlyunderthejacket.Theshowshirtispartoftheuniform.Occasionally,inhotweather,thedirectorswillgivepermissionforstudentstoopentheirjackets.ThebandMUSTstilllookuniform.Thisalsopreventsthewearingofinappropriatet-shirts.

C. StudentsmustwearBLACKATHLETIC/DRESSSOCKS.ThesocksCANNOTbetheanklehighsocks.Ifstudentsareunabletoobtainsocksorlosethem,theycanpurchaseblacksocksatacostof$2.00perpair.Iftheyareunabletopayforthesocksatthattime,theirnamewillbeputonalistandtheywillbeexpectedtopayassoonaspossible.Allunpaidfeeswillbeplacedonthefinelistattheendofthesemester.

D. StudentsmustuseBLACKMARCHINGSHOES.BurkeHighcurrentlyusestheDrillmasterMarchingShoe.Studentscanordertheseshoesthroughthelargegrouporderdoneatthebeginningoftheschoolyear.Noothershoesareacceptable.

StudentsMAYNOTwearjewelry.Partofmarchingbandishavingeveryonebeuniforminappearance.Studentswhohavepiercingsmustremovethemforallperformances.Ifthestudentrecentlygottheirpiercingandisunabletoremoveit,theyareexpectedtocoveritwithafleshcolorband-aidoruseclearstuds.Studentswithgaugesmustreplacethemwithcleargaugesforperformances.Studentsmaynotwearwatchesorrings.

F. Allstudents,femaleandmale,withLONGHAIR,mustbraiditorputitupsothatitisofftheshouldersandcanbeplacedinsidethehat.
