1. DescriptionoftheEPBS:

This2018,welookathowthecurrentadministration’sinitiativesandprograms,inlinewithitsSocioeconomic Agenda and priorities, have substantially progressed – Build, Build, BuildProgram,taxreform,easeofdoingbusiness, laborprotectionfurtheredthroughtheExecutiveOrder on Contractualization, sustainable development and climate adaptation, and universalhealthcare,amongmanyothers.Inaddition,thePhilippines’economyisatsteadygrowthat6.8%GDPforQ1of2018,EUremainstobeoneofthetopthreetradingpartnerofthePhilippines,andthe EU-Philippines Partnership Cooperation Agreement has been put into force – a majormilestonefortheEU-Philippinerelations.Withthisinmind,theEU-PhilippinesBusinessNetwork(EPBN)isorganizingtheEU-PhilippinesBusinessSummit2018withthetheme“EUandthePhilippines:JointlyPursuingCompetitivenessforInclusiveGrowth”on18October2018,atSolaireResortandHotel.Weareinvitingyoutojointhemostimportanttradeforumtobeattendedbykeyfiguresfromthegovernmentandprivatesector.TheForumwillbeacelebrationofEU-Philippinetradeandinvestmenttiesandanopportunityfor a constructive dialogue between key stakeholders, covering key sectors – Infrastructure,Retail,Environment,Healthcare,andTaxandFinancialServices,withpresentationsoftheEPBN’swishlistofreformsthroughthehandoverofthe4theditionoftheEU-PhilippineAdvocacyPapers(see2017EU-PhilippineAdvocacyPapershere).Thiseventwillbringtogetherthreehundredto five hundred (350-500) participants from the Philippine government, private sector,businessgroups,diplomaticcorps,academeandthinktanks,amongothers.Keynoteinviteeswillinclude NEDA Secretary Ernesto Pernia, DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez, DENR Secretary RoyCimatu,DOHSecretaryFranciscoDuqueIII,Sen.JuanMiguelZubiri,andHon.GloriaMacapagal-Arroyo.2.
