COPYRIGHT FREE PHOTOSIn the first session we did a search of Creative Commons photos, the photos, illustrations or other visual art you can use legally if you mention the artist/photographer.
• Type what type of photo or illustration you want, for instance dog (in the search box). Click on Images. You will see this screen. Click on Settings.• You have several options you can apply, but the important bit is at the bottom and it’s called usage rights. Click on the grey box to see the options.

• These are the options for usage. It is best not to click not filtered by licence as the search might show photos that are not copyright free, photos you need to pay to use or whose rights are not for sale. • Choose free to use or share if your project is for a charity or non-profit use. • Free to use or share, even commercially is best if you want to use the photo or artwork for a business. • Free to use or share or modify means you can modify the photo or artwork.

Each pixel consists of 8 bits (= 1 byte) for a black and white image or 24 bits (= 3 bytes) for a colour one.
Measurements and resolution can be confusing, as a rule of thumb, pictures for blogs should be 72dpi, for printing purposes (i.e. leaflet) at least 300dpi). Pixels refers to sizes on a screen.
