Jan 2015- Jan 2017: Clinical Fellow of Endocrine Surgery at the Division of Endocrine Surgery, Department
of Surgical Pathology, University Hospital of Pisa, Via Paradisa 2, Pisa 56123-Italy. Supervised by Professor
Paolo Miccoli: [email protected]. This was a full time post in which I was involved in the pre- and
post-operative care of patients, and surgeries (both as surgeon and first assistant). The surgeries mainly
included conventional and mini-incision thyroidectomy and parathyroidectomy, Minimally Invasive Video-
Assisted Thyroidectomy and Parathyroidectomy "MIVAT and MIVAP", Robot -Assisted Transaxillary
Thyroidectomy "RATT", selective compartment-oriented comprehensive neck dissection, and Adrenalectomy
both laparoscopic and retroperitonoscopic. The annual case load of the department is over 3000. Other general
surgery procedures are less frequently performed. I also performed neck ultrasound once a week for
outpatients. I was also involved in the scientific activities and publications of the department usually as first
and corresponding author.
January 2009- July 2014: General Surgery Resident. I Started my General Surgery Residency at the
Jordanian Royal Medical Services 1 (Jan 2009 – July 2010) then from July 2010 to July 2014 continued at
King Abdullah University Hospital/ Jordan University of Science & Technology (JUST) 2 where I obtained the
Higher Specialty certificate in Medicine/ General Surgery (ranked first among graduates) and was appointed
Chief of General Surgery residents during my last year of residency. This was a full time post with overnight
duties every 3-4 days. I was involved in the pre and postoperative care of patients, operations (both as surgeon

and assistant), out-patient clinics, and emergency department duties. As a senior resident I became involved in
the educational activities of medical students and junior residents.
