Please review the entire application before beginning, as there are portions of the
application that must be completed by the student, parents/guardians, and teachers.
The IB Diploma Programme is a comprehensive rigorous curriculum; therefore, we
evaluate the students in various categories. Items under review will include the fol-
lowing:

Passing performance on all EOC/STAAR
Passing grades in all courses; no more than two “C” averages.
Two years of foreign language.
Satisfactory conduct in all classes: an “S” average.

The IB Diploma Programme is designed for highly motivated students who take courses specifically intended to prepare them
for international examinations at the end of their junior and senior years. Students who successfully complete the prestigious
IB Diploma Programme can meet the academic challenges of the best domestic and foreign colleges and universities. Students
enter the Pre-IB Diploma Programme at Eisenhower High School in the tenth grade. All students admitted into the Pre-IB
Diploma and IB Diploma Programmes are full diploma candidates.

STUDENT ESSAY

Instructions: Please write an essay (250-500 words) on one of the options listed below. This personal
essay helps us become acquainted with you as a person and student, apart from course grades, test
scores, and other data. It will also demonstrate your ability to formally organize thoughts and express
your point of view.
1) Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or
ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.
2) Evaluate the following quote, then justify whether you agree or disagree
using a personal life experience. “It is the mark of an educated mind to
be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.” -Aristotle
3) Discuss an issue of personal, local, national, or international concern and
its importance to you.
4) Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (as in
art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you, and explain
that influence.
5) A range of academic interests, personal perspectives, and life experiences
adds much to the educational mix. Given your personal background, de-
scribe an experience that illustrates what you would bring to the diversity
in the IB programme.

Eisenhower High School International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a comprehensive academic program with a rigorous curriculum designed for highly-motivated students who take courses specifically intended to prepare them for international examinations at the end of their junior and senior years. For a student to be prepared to sit successfully for externally validated IB examinations he/she must be a consistent, dedicated learner. Therefore, Eisenhower High School requires that the following commitment be made.
I agree to the following terms and conditions for participating in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at Eisenhower High School.
I will:
maintain good attendance in keeping with Aldine ISD attendance policy
abide by the rules and guidelines of Eisenhower High School
adhere to the student “Code of Conduct” as outlined in the Aldine ISD Student/Parent Handbook
complete all required assignments
meet the expectations set forth in each class by participating daily, being prepared, actively listening, offering relevant comments, posing insightful questions, taking notes, etc.
work judiciously to improve my writing skills, which involves writing, editing, rewriting, asking for authorized assistance outside of the class period, etc.
take advantage of after school tutorials, teacher assistance, and counseling when needed
participate in summer sessions and/or correspondence courses needed in order to complete any identified course deficiencies
submit quality work in a timely manner, and specifically meet all deadlines for the internal and external assessments required by IBO
sit for up to two IB SL exams at the end of the junior year, and the rest of my IB exams at the end of the senior year
maintain at least 70 (unweighted) yearly grade point average or better in order to remain in an IB course
remain at Eisenhower for the current academic year but return to my home campus for the following year if withdrawn or removed from the IB programme
not engage in any form of academic dishonesty (academic dishonesty will lead to removal from the IB Programme)
not withdraw from an IB level course after the first two weeks of school and must remain for the an entire year unless I request to drop the course at semester break or I am withdrawn from the course due to lack of adequate performance
not be able to continue in an IB course within a specific content area in subsequent years if I drop or I am removed from an IB course; nor receive an IB Diploma upon graduation. (I will receive an IB Certificate for a course if all IBO assessments are successfully completed.)
not be eligible for University Interscholastic League (UIL) competitions at my home school for one entire year if I withdraw or I am removed from the IB Programme and return to my attendance area school (unless my attendance area school is Eisenhower High School)
I am willing to strive for attainment of the high standards required for this program. I will work to the best of my ability. I understand that if I do not meet the standards of the IB program, either because of the quality of my work or because of my performance as a serious learner, I may be
