Guidelines for Schools
1. All schools must regularly visit the CBSE website to be updated about various
policies and schemes including latest updates on School Quality Assessment andAccreditation (SQAA)
. All schools will have a ma!imum time"line o# three years within which they shouldapply to the CBSE #or School Quality Assessment $ Accreditation.
%. &he list o# empanelled agencies is available on the CBSE website. &he Boardwould provide the complete list o# agencies (added or blac'listed). enceschools should ma'e re#erence to the CBSE website #rom time to time.
*. Schools intending to get accredited must ensure that they have a website with an+Accreditation Corner+.
,. Schools should upload the +-andatory isclosure /orm+ on their website be#ore%1st ecember 01 . &he +-andatory isclosure /orm+ is available on the CBSEwebsite under Academic Accreditation. Schools should also chec' their data andcontinuously update their status website details etc on the CBSE 2ebsite.
3. &he schools on deciding to undergo the SQAA should ma'e a School AssessmentCommittee (SAC) with its principal as head o# the team.
4. &he decision to #orm the School Accreditation Committee and resolve to undergoSchool Quality Assessment and Accreditation (SQAA) should be appropriatelyapproved by the -anagement Committee o# each school.
5. &he school intending to undergo Accreditation should 6ll"in the +/orm o# 7ntent+and submit it to the CBSE. All the agencies listed on CBSE website are e8uallyauthori9ed to carry out the SQAA : assessment. &he CBSE will allocate an agency#rom those empanelled with them.
;. &he school should normally e!pect a con6rmation letter #rom the allotted agencywithin two wee's o# 6lling in /orm o# 7ntent. 7n case o# non"receipt o# anyresponse within three wee's it should then send a reminder to the CBSE toe!pedite the matter.

11. &he agency on receiving the SQAA/ (7nstrument 1) shall conduct the internalscoring. All schools which get an initial score o# ,0 and above would 8uali#y #orthe =A& visit #or SQAA.
1 . &he agency shall in#orm the SAC team ead i.e. the =rincipal #or 6nali9ing the =A&
visit dates by email phone (the dates are then 6!ed).
1%. &he school should ma'e arrangements as per the =A& visit schedule #or co"ordinating the availability o# students teachers etc apart #rom access to physicalin#rastructure documents etc. re8uired by the school to be produced #orveri6cation to the team members.
1*. &he schools should act in a pro#essional manner and not resort to any unwantedactions which are not desirable as per the broad mandate o# the CBSE.
1,. &he schools should use the visit o# =A& as a learning visit and constantly ma'enotes o# suggestions #eedbac' etc. #or improving the school 8uality irrespectiveo# the result o# SQAA.
13. A#ter the visit> the schools would be given a +School Quality Enhancement ?eport+(SQE?) which should be thoroughly gone through and necessary action ta'enaccordingly #or improving the 8uality o# teaching and learning at the school.
14. A school which gets a score o# 4, @ or above (overall) and minimum ,0 @ ineach domain> shall be declared +Accredited+ by CBSE. &he school+s name shall bethen listed on the CBSE website under the list o# accredited schools. &he schoolmay use the terminology +a liated and accredited CBSE School+ instead o# onlyusing a liated to CBSE . &he school should not ma'e any other #alse or over"reaching claim.
15. &he validity period o# SQAA accreditation is three years. A #resh application #orrenewal should be made be#ore the e!piry o# the three year period to enDoy theprivilege o# being an +Accredited School o# the CBSE+ in a continuous manner.

22. Central Board of Secondary Education ( CBSE ) grants affiliation to various categories of schoolsin accordance with its Affiliation Bye-laws. The chapter- of affiliation Bye-laws! inter-aliaprescri"es the following with regard to #ini#u# infrastructure re$uire#ent in schools.
2%. The schools #ust have a"out 2 acres or as otherwise per#itted #easure#ent of land and a"uilding constructed on a part of land and proper playgrounds on the re#aining land.
2&. The land should "e owned "y the schools or the society which is running the school. f the landis ta'en on lease it should "e for a #ini#u# period of % years.2 . The institutions should have proper facilities co##ensurate with its re$uire#ent and should
provide #ini#u# floor space of * s$. #tr. per student in the class roo#.2+. Every institute will also provide proper facilities for physically challenged students.2,. The school should have suita"le furniture in the class roo#s and office e$uip#ent
co##ensurate with the strength and staff.2 . The school should have the needed e$uip#ent and faculties for science! ho#e science!
technical su" ects! vocations su" ects etc.2/. The school should scrupulously o"serve prescription fro# the local authority regarding safety!

(ii) "uilding nor#s to provide for allweather "uilding! "arrier free access! separate toilets for "oys and girls! safe drin'ing water!'itchen facility! playground! etc.! (iii) #ini#u# nu#"er of wor'ing days! (iv) #ini#u# nu#"erof wor'ing hours per wee' per teacher! (v) teacher learning e$uip#ent! (vi) 5i"rary! (vii) play#aterial! ga#es and sports e$uip#ent.

The "oard would provide affiliations to the govern#ent and govern#ent aided schools6 autono#ousorgani ations! which would "e controlled "y the govern#ent6 private educational institutions!recogni ed "y the state govern#ent6 society religious institutions! etc. which are included in the Bye-laws of the "oard. There are three types of affiliations! na#ely! provisional affiliations! regularaffiliations and per#anent affiliations. The provisional affiliations are granted to the institutions for aspan of three years! provided they strictly adhered to the nor#s and conditions of the Bye-laws of the
"oard. The regular affiliations are granted to the govern#ent and govern#ent aided institutions! whoare fulfilling the Bye-laws perfectly6 this is granted at one ti#e and there would not "e any need forthese institutions to apply for e7tension6 however! they would "e as'ed to re#it the annual fee! asprescri"ed in the Bye-laws. The per#anent affiliation is rendered for pu"lic underta'ings6 privateinstitutions! recogni ed "y the state govern#ents! etc. t also provides such affiliation to the schools!which are provisionally affiliated to the "oard for #ore than * years! standing "y the Bye-laws! allthe ti#e. Minimum Infrastructure Required for CBSE Affiliation By /ranchise School ecember 1 01* CBSE SchoolCentral Board for Secondary Education or frequently called as CBSE is the education board
established by the Central Government of India to supervise the planning of education curriculum
and its appropriate implication by the schools that are affiliated with the board. All the e perienced
e pert members of the board !eep an eye on regular review and update processes for the syllabus
and certification to schools that apply for affiliation with the board. All the government schools and
numerous private schools all over India follow CBSE policies for imparting education.
"here is a set of Affiliation Bye#laws fi ed by CBSE to grant affiliation to applying schools. $irst and
foremost a school has to be running before it applies for affiliation. $or your school to be affiliated
with CBSE there are some minimum infrastructure pre#requisites that you would need to fulfil first%
which are as follows&
"he school must own a minimum area of land specified as per its location and the region it
stands in. "he premise must hold a constructed building on one part of the land and ample
playing and open space on the remaining part of the land. As per CBSE Affiliation norms% a school situated in a hilly area or in a city with total
population of more than '( la!hs% the minimum land required for the school is ) acre. *hile for schools in cities with resident population of less than '( la!hs% the land area should not be less
than ' la!hs. "he trust or society running the school must be registered beforehand and the land for the
school should also be registered with the name of this society. If you do not own the land% it
should have been leased to the same society for a period of +, years at least. "his lease period

courts% etc. with the needed equipment and facilities. "he school must also suffice the imparting
of technical and vocational !nowledge to the students by !eeping adequate equipment. "here should be a minimum of ) computer lab in the school. And the lab should be well
equipped with a good internet connection% minimum ), computers or computer to students ratio
of )&',. "he school must also have a spacious library with )(,, boo!s and )( maga0ines at
least. "he student to boo! ratio has to be maintained at )&( by the school authorities. 1roper certifications have to be ta!en from local authorities for safety of children% safe
drin!ing water and sanitation% hygienic and healthy environment etc. "he school must also fulfill
