Alpha was our SUV driver and with us 24/7. Growing up aMuslim,hehadonlyeverbeentoamosque.HehadneverbeentoaChristian churchbecausehehadbeentoldnot togo.Wewereverypersonablewith him, sharedour food and snacks, and justloved on him. He witnessed the graduations we did, heardtestimonies fromstudentswhousedtobeMuslim,witnesseduspraying forthesickanddancing,andjustsawthejoyweallhad.Abouthalfway in the trip a fellowteammember, SteveOwings,leadhimtoChrist.Webaptizedhiminaswimmingpoolatahotelwewereblessedtostayatonenight,enjoyingareprievefromtheheat! HeisnowconnectedwithourleadersinFreetownandplanningongoingtoourbibleschoolthisfall.Glory!

RussFraseandItrained30pastorsandleaderstostartBibleTrainingCentersinFreetownin2012.Wedidthetraininginthebackyardofamissionshouseamongthechickensandgoats.Honestly,Ileftwonderingwhatifanythingwouldevercomeofourtrainingthere.Personallyspeaking,ourtripbacktherelastmonthforgraduationswas,handsdown,themostdemanding and physically exhausting of any ofmy earlierministry ventures overseas. WetraveledtoelevenofthefourteendistrictsofSierraLeoneandbesidesjustbeingbrutallyhot,itwasthemostdifficultconditionsIhaveeverexperiencedonatrip. Ourteamjokedamongourselvesofouradventures-1frenziedmob,2attemptedthefts,2brokendownSUVsand1inaditch,2flattires,14bucketbaths,100’sofmilesonextremelybadroadsand1standoffonasinglelanebridge.“Countitalljoy!”But to graduate over 200 students in nine graduations in nine days and have our Muslimdriversavedandbaptized–PRICELESS!

VaranasiandJaipur,IndiaItwasalongtripforRussFraseandmyself,atotalof36hoursintransittoourfirstministrylocationofVaranasi,Indiawithone flightsegmentbeing15.5hoursalone(NewarktoDelhi).Forallthediscomfortsof internationaltravelthoughit is,wehad another extremely fruitful trip of ministry andarguablyonethatcouldendupbeingthemostimpactful.Varanasi is a city of 3.6million andnot only a stronghold ofHinduism,butthebirthplaceofBuddhismisalsojust8milesaway in the city in Sarnath. The Ganges River at Varanasi isone of the holiest sites in Hinduism. It was quite theexperiencetotakeaboatrideontheGangesRiverandseethecremationfireswhichtraditionsayshaveburnednonstopfor3,000 years. It is believed washing in the Ganges River willwashawayaHindu’ssinandbeingcrematedtherewillbreakthe cycle of reincarnation and rebirth. It was quite the darkplace,but I’mgladtoreport therearebrothersandsisters inChristtestifyingtothetruthofthegospelofJesusChristthere!It was a privilege to teach, encourage, equip and train ourbrothers and sisters in Christ there. A total of 165 firstgenerationpastorsweretrainedinVaranasitostartBibleTrainingCentersandanother49inJaipur.Baseduponthecommitmentsgiventherewillsoonbeanother1500studentsinweeklybiblicalstudyandpracticalministryexperience.Themostexcitingnewsthoughistherearethousandsofhomegroupsinthenetworkofthekeyleadersandtheirdesireistohaveabibleschoolineachofthem!Iwasalsoabletoteachonone of my favorite topics and activate the pastors in eachlocationinhealing.PraiseGod!
AccraandTakoradi,GhanaWe trained over 400 pastors and leaders in Accra andTakoradi to start Bible Training Centers. Our host Bernardalsotrainedanother200leadersafterweleft.It’sencouragingto see those you’ve trained go and train others. Duplicatingyourselfinministryisincrediblyfruitfulandrewarding!Teachingandtrainingpastors/leadersisourprimarymission,butIalwaysenjoyindividualministry.ItseemseverywhereIgotheLordhasdivineappointmentsformeandthistripwasno different. InTakoradiwe stayed in the housing units of aCatholicseminarywherewewereservedbytwoyoungladies.EachofthemapproachedmeseparatelyforprayerinregardstodemonicmanifestationsduringtheirsleepandIwasabletoministerdeliveranceandthebaptismoftheHolySpirittoeachofthem.Theirliveswillneverbethesame!Hallelujah!
