Feet become rough, dull and unhealthy with daily wear and tear. Improper shoes, exposed feet,
dust and dirt coupled with many other things affect the appearance of our feet and health.
Healthy feet conventionally are known to symbolize a healthy person. Feet require their share of
daily or weekly attention. Here are some tips on how to keep your feet healthy in an inexpensive
way.
1. Start off clean! Make sure your toe nails are polish free using cotton dipped non- acetone
remover as acetone can be harsh. Use a nail clipper or a file to gently shape your nail according
to the length and shape that you desire.
2. Soak it up by filling a basin with warm water to cover your ankles. Avoid hot water because
extreme temperatures dry the skin off. Soaking your feet softens the skin and rough patches. If
you don’t have a foot soak, it is alright. Milk or shampoo will do the job. You can also add ½ cup
Epsom salt, juice of one lemon and essential oils as per your liking. After a tough and hard day,
eucalyptus oil is advisable as it relieves aching feet and acts as a disinfectant. If your toe nails
are hard, it’s the right time to clip and shape your nails.
3. Exfoliate dead skin! When your feet are dry, rub your feet with pumice stone and don’t get frenzy
with rubbing. Rub only till the rough skin sloughs off. Start scrubbing your feet with a mixture of
sugar and olive oil. You can add tea tree or mint oil to the mixture.
4. Care for your cuticles! Place your feet on a dry towel and gently pat the feet dry. Apply some
olive oil at the root of your each toe nail and gently push back the cuticles with a cuticles pusher.
Apply foot oil or foot cream rich in vitamin E and massage your foot till you feel relaxed but avoid
it on your toe nails.
5. Flaunt it off! Now comes the best part, take your favorite color nail paint and paint it up, but
before that apply a base coat. Keep the layers of polish thin as polish by itself will help nail polish
to dry quickly and it will help in longevity.
