Immobilising pad is an important imaging accessory usedto maintain patient in a fixed position and prevent patientmovement during scans. These pads are costly to replacewhen the coverings start to disintegrate and exposure offoam core is a source of infection. An initiative was madeto design a cost effective immobilising pad which allowsease of disinfection after every use to ensure a safe andinfection controlled imaging environment.

Immobilising pads are sold for a few hundred dollarsdepending on size. They are designed with polymercoating that disintegrates from frequent disinfections withalcohol and usage and it can become a breeding source formicro-organisms.
