Cover ImageThis month’s cover is by artist Alex Garant. Using patterns, duplication of elements, symmetry, and superimposition as key elements of her imagery, her paintings are a reflection on human duality and the battle for self-definition between one’s inner self and outer persona. The work is meant to be enigmatic, while often creating a disorienting sensation or visually spinning experience. The work invokes a feeling reminiscent of the true vertigo experienced by patients with Ménière disease. This uncommon cause of vertigo, tinnitus, and progressive hearing loss can be debilitating, but most patients obtain good control of their symptoms with personalized management. A clinical review in this issue provides family physicians with an updated approach to the diagnosis and management of this challenging condition (page 463).
