The Progress Report will be available via Compass this afternoon
from 4pm. These will be brief, regarding Behaviour in class,
Homework completion, Effort in class, English and Maths standards.
Interim reports
Three Way Interviews start next week for all classes. These
interviews are a good time to discuss any questions you may
have from the Progress Reports, to see what your child has been
up to in class, and discuss any goals for your child for the
remainder of the school year.

Kerrimuir School Fair 2017
Preparations are in full swing for the Kerrimuir School Fair 2017
to be held on Saturday 11th November between 12pm and 5pm.
A big thank you must go out to all the members of the
organising committee for the all the hard work they have put in to
ensure this day is a huge success. The school fair is a great
opportunity to get to know other school families and raise some
money to continue to make the facilities at Kerrimuir engaging for
all students.
Footy Day
Planning is in full swing for Footy Day next Friday. Remember to
wear your club colours, jumpers and beanies. The parade will
start at 9.00am on the FFG with footy rotation starting at
10.00am. I am expecting to see a large contingent of proud and
passionate Richmond fans this year. Go the Yellow and Black.

Term 3 Science: Melting Moments
Aim: To find out how long it takes various materials to melt, and why some things melt faster
than others.
Method: Heat up the materials in a frying pan and observe how they change over time.
NAPLAN Results
Congratulations to all grade 3 students who successfully completed the NAPLAN

Our Grade 3 students at Kerrimuir really embraced Wordmania this year! We have been focussing on setting goals and achieving our personal best, so Wordmania gave
us the perfect opportunity to practise AND measure this.
We were extremely proud to have won each of the practise and preliminary rounds, unfortunately we just missed out in the final. Each time the students played they were improving their scores; by the end of the competition the students could easily
score over 2000 points per game.
Wordmania also gave the students a chance to exercise their knowledge of root-words and how prefixes and suffixes affect them. We will definitely be giving the 2018
Wordmania Challenge a Red-Hot-Go!
Our Grade 3s came 2nd

LIBRARY News
Library news I would like to thank families who have made donations to the
Kerrimuir Library Fund and those parents who have paid for lost
or damaged library books. Your contributions are kept in
a Library Trust Fund account which I can access, with School Council approval, to
spend on new books for our library. At the last School Council, I was given
approval to access some of the money to buy new books during Term 4. This
means that I will be able to continue buying new books until the end of the year.
The Australian children’s literature scene is alive and well with publishers
producing many excellent quality books for children. The quality of overseas
books remains a high standard also, however the Australian children’s publishing
industry is well renowned throughout the publishing world for producing high
quality books for children, especially in the face of competition from digital
books. In the past year or so I have been amazed at not only the quality and
range of children’s books but also the number of books entering the market.
Book stores also seem to be making a bit of a comeback.
And, of course Term 4 also means new books for Christmas – a time when
publishers flood the shelves with new books to capture the Christmas market.
Now, with these additional funds I will be able to continue stocking our library
with the latest books for our
students as well as replacing old
favourites.
Thank you again to the School
Council for their ongoing support
of the library.

Fundraising
The famous Kerrimuir Cake Raffle takes place every Friday afternoon at assembly. It’s a great opportunity to raise funds to make improvements to
our school, and a bit of fun for the kids. We’re always looking for bakers to help out with the raffle. You don’t even need to be a baker, as
purchased goods are also welcome. Thank you to the parents and other volunteers who bake or buy our delicious prizes. Tickets are 20c each at the canteen window, and the winning tickets are
drawn by the children of our weekly bakers/contributors.

This year KPS are participating in the Woolworths Earn & Learn

collecting Woolworths Earn & Learn stickers. If you shop at Woolworths you can collect
one Earn & Learn sticker for every $10 spent (excluding liquor, tabacco and gift cards).
Place stickers onto the Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker Sheet and when the sheet is
complete, drop it into the Collection Box at the school office or at Woolworths,
Blackburn North Shopping Centre. Sticker sheets are available at the school office or
can be downloaded from woolworths.com.au/earnandlearn. At the end of the
promotion, we will be able to get some new equipment for our school, including
resources for Maths, English and Science, Art & Craft and Sport. For more information
