A Colorful New Year
I wish you all a “colorful new year.” Red symbolizes courage. May your new year give you the courage of your political convictions by supporting the objectives and policies of our Republican Party.
The color yellow embodies energy. May you have the energy to state your positions to those who oppose your views and to increase the effectiveness of women in the cause of good government.
Green is for growth. Help our club grow. Carry ARW flyers and business cards with you. You never know when you’ll meet someone new who has been searching for a local Republican Women’s Club. Bring like-minded women to our meetings.
Blue stands for stability. If you haven’t yet renewed, please do it now. Membership and renewal applications are found in our monthly newsletter.
Purple symbolizes wisdom. Our club’s objective is to promote an informed electorate through political education. Additionally, commit to attend LD meetings and other local venues.
White stands for goodness and purity. The Republican Party recognizes the dignity and individuality of its citizens. Republicans do not sacrifice individual rights and the freedoms of each American.
Black represents power. You have the power within you to affect change by electing
only Conservative Republicans. Work to affect that change!
Finally, orange is for joy. May you continue to live joyously in a nation that protects and
defends our freedoms, democracy, finances, and families. Happy New Year.
Bonnie Hochberg

Losing America
America as we traditionally view it, and as the founders envisioned it, is
all but dead. The concepts of “one nation” are silently vanishing. The
American melting pot is now the politically correct defense for class
segregation. The melting pot analogy worked when the tired and huddled
masses assimilated into American fabric of yesteryear. Those masses
shed their old world identities and assumed the American identity. Was it perfect?
Maybe not, but the concept built a nation that united and became the world’s greatest
country.
Now the melting pot does not exist. Newcomers to America hold on to their racial and
religious identities. Generational Americans seek to reconnect with theirs. Blurred
orientation and gender lines are being redefined. At best, it is a curdled soup in a milky
broth. Now this is what I see happening in our country at this time. It is all the rules of
the ALINSKY Theocracy. These are the eight things he said would create a Social
State.
1. Healthcare - Control healthcare and you control the people.
2. Poverty - Increase the Poverty level as high as possible.
3. Debt - increase the debt to an unsustainable level.
4. Gun Control - Remove the ability for the people to defend
themselves from Government. That way you can create a
police state.
5. Welfare - Take control of every aspect of their lives, food,
housing, & income.
6. Education - Take control of what people read and listen
to, take control of what children learn in school.
7. Religion - Remove the belief in God from Government
and schools.
8. Class Warfare - Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause
more discontent and it will be easier to TAX the wealthy with the support of the poor.
ANYONE CAN NOW SEE THAT THE EIGHT RULES ARE NOW IN PLAY!

There is nothing more beautiful than the sun rising or setting on the Arizona
desert. The grandeur of the sun shining down on the flora illuminating the purples, teals, reds and golds as if “all the land is consecrate!” Thus the theme for the March 10, 2016 ARW fundraiser aptly named “Desert Jewels!”
The afternoon will be filled with fashions from Dillard’s, musical entertainment,
vendors (for your shopping pleasure), prizes and more. Chef Alan has a scrumptious lunch planned. There will be a cash bar and special cocktail created just for us.
Tickets will be given out at the January 13, 2016 meeting. Tickets will be mailed
to you if you cannot attend. All tickets must be returned as soon as possible. Caring For America
First, a wonderful "Happy New Year" to each of you! Secondly, a great big "THANK YOU'' for the generous response to our "Socks For Vets". You should all take comfort in the fact that some homeless Vet has at least something new and warm to wear! I wish you could have seen the smiles and the grateful eyes when they received them. Some of the remaining socks will go to the Vets at our "StandDown Arizona". The dates for this event are set for Jan. 28th and 29th, a Thurs. and Fri. REMEMBER, you do NOT have to stay all day. This is the fourth year for some of us, and we will tell you more about it at the January meeting. It will make you proud to be an American! In the meantime, visit their website: Maricopa County StandDown, and open "volunteer opportunities". Carpool if you can. Thank you! Jan (Peaches) Buchkowski, Chair
Caring for America Committee
From Your AzFRW Region Director Ladies, I am so pleased to be your new RD. I look forward to knowing you better and participating with you in Club and Federation activities. Congratulations to the new Officers and Committee Chairmen. I wish for each of you a productive New Year.
With elections looming we have a busy year ahead. I encourage you to attend the winter meeting of AzFRW which will be held in Tempe at Embassy Suites on February 26 and 27. Early Bird Registration is still available. Our region will be co-hosting a State Meeting later in the year and I will provide more information as I receive it. I look forward to your upcoming Membership Tea and Fashion Show with better opportunities to learn of your strengths and creativity. Thanks to each of you for your support thus far. Carol Jones
From the Office of US Rep. Trent Franks
Greetings to you and your family!
2015 has been a year of trial and triumph for the 8th District of Arizona. I’d
like to share some of this year's highlights with you.
We hosted and attended several District events this year and appreciate all
those who were able to join us. It is always a pleasure to speak with you in
person. When the Congressional schedule keeps me in Washington, I'm
grateful we can speak over the phone about the most pressing issues.
In another attempt to scale back the Affordable Care Act, I voted YES on H.R. 1190, the Protecting
Seniors’ Access to Medicare Act, which repeals the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB).
This board, created by the passage of the Affordable Care Act, would have the authority to
singlehandedly cut Medicare spending devastating seniors’ pocketbooks and healthcare choices if
and when those unilateral decisions were made. Health care decisions should be made between
patients and their doctors and never by a board comprised of unelected individuals. I am pleased to
say that this bill passed the House and is awaiting a vote in the Senate.
In March I joined 366 other Members of the House in a letter to the President detailing the minimum
requirements that should be on the table for any negotiation with the Islamic Republic of Iran. I
believe the President negotiated away every nonnegotiable with his Iran deal and put America and
her allies in even greater danger. Even so, my commitment to protect and defend this nation will
never waver.
As co-chair of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption, it was my delight to help support the
Adoptive Family Relief Act which passed both the House and Senate and was signed into law on
October 16th. I often partner with adoption and foster care organizations to work on both Federal
and State legislation to provide more children the opportunity to find their forever family. It was an
honor to recommend two constituents from Arizona for nomination of the 2015 Angels in Adoption
Award.
Finally, our Washington, D.C. office had the pleasure of hosting over 200 Capitol tour groups from
our district. We sincerely thank you for visiting our office with your families, friends, and schools
while touring our Nation's Capital.
As you enter this holiday season, I pray God's greatest blessings upon you and your families and
look forward to another year serving you as your Representative to the United States Congress.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Most sincerely,
Trent Franks
Member of Congress
Lesko’s Legislative Update Hi Ladies, BEST WISHES for 2016! I hope you had a wonderful Holiday Season with your family! The Secret to Happiness: I recently heard a speech based on research that determined that people who are thankful are happier.
I believe they are right. I am thankful for what God has given me, I am thankful for my family, I am thankful for my job that gives me an opportunity to make a difference, And I am thankful for YOU! My Vacation to Israel: My husband and I recently returned from a personal vacation to Israel. The trip was historic, spiritual, and impactful. We visited Biblical sites, toured areas overlooking the Lebanon and Syrian borders, went inside a bomb shelter near the Gaza Strip that also served as school playground equipment, touched the Western Wall in Jerusalem, went into Palestinian territory when visiting Bethlehem, listened to a speech at an ancient amphitheater built by King Herod, and sailed the Sea of Galilee. Unlike what many may think, we felt safe in Israel. The security there is tight, almost everyone is a veteran since all men and women have to serve 2-3 years in the military, and one of the hotels we stayed at was housing a bunch of soldiers carrying their M-16’s. Eating buffet breakfast and riding on a hotel elevator with young men and women carrying rifles was a new experience for me! Like all vacations, I am now happy to be home. I am thankful that I was able to visit Israel and I am thankful that I get to celebrate Christmas with my family and friends. The Legislative Session starts January 11th. I’ve been busy working for months. I’m sure I’ll have a lot of news for you in my next update. Sincerely, Debbie Lesko AZ State Senator, District 21 Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee 1700 W. Washington St. S-302 Phoenix, AZ 85007 602-926-5413 [email protected]
From the Desk of Phil Lovas
Happy New Year! Now that the presents have been opened and
the confetti has fallen, it's time for the State legislature to go back
to work. This year’s session begins January 11 when Governor
Doug Ducey will lay out his plans in the State of the State
address. In the past, this speech has provided a good indication
of where a Governor wants to take the state over the next 12 months.
Last year, Governor Ducey focused on reducing bureaucracy, regulations, and
balancing the budget. He also discussed the importance of protecting K-12 education
and the need to settle the on-going education lawsuit brought by school districts against
the legislature. His words were prophetic. In March he delivered a budget that cut
spending and put the state on sound financial footing for the future. The budget also
protected K-12 spending and set the stage for the eventual settlement of the education
lawsuit this past fall.
Perhaps the most memorable State of the State address in recent history was Governor
Brewer's in 2013. There was great anticipation for that speech as she was heading into
the final two years of her administration with the decision to expand Obamacare
looming. Supreme Court decisions in 2012 had allowed the Obamacare law to stand but
given states discretion regarding the expansion of Medicaid services.
While Governor Brewer had many significant achievements, particularly the signing of
SB 1070 which cracked down on illegal immigration, her address three years ago set
the tone for a rocky two-year relationship with the legislature. During her speech
Governor Brewer surprised many in the House chamber with passionate support for
expanding Obamacare in Arizona. After months of lobbying and cajoling, over the
objections of conservative legislators like myself, she eventually cobbled together
enough Republican votes to join with Democrats and pass the expansion.
While we have not received any advance notice of what he plans this year, it is
expected the Governor will focus on tax reform, particularly eliminating the state income
tax. This will most likely be done with a broadening of the tax base to include services
and potentially an increase in the sales tax rate. Regardless of what topics he may
choose to emphasize, this speech will be an important guide for the direction of state
government in 2016.
If my office can be of any help please feel free to contact me at 602-926-3297 or [email protected]. State Rep. Phil Lovas

From Debbie Lee, America’s Mighty Warriors As we approach the end of 2015 we wanted to make sure we said thank you to each one of
our supporters who donated this past year so that America's Mighty Warriors could
continue to fulfill our mission to support our troops and the families of our fallen heroes.
Your continued faithful support has made a difference in thousands of the lives of our
families of our fallen and our troops. We couldn't do this without you and are forever
grateful!!!!
As you celebrate Christmas and bring in the New Year please remember our Gold Star
families and families of our deployed troops who have an empty chair at their family
