    5.MohammedMurtalaaNigerianmilitaryleaderwhoruledfrom19751976.Hetookpartinthecoupsofthe1960s.DuringtheNigerianCivilwar,hewasahighrankingmilitaryleaderwhowasresponsibleforthedeathsofmanyNigeriancitizens.Hewasthenappointedheadofstate.Heoversawanumberofreformsinthepoliciesandpracticesofthegovernment,especiallyintheeconomicandsocialrealms.Healsoisreportedtohaveincarcerated0peoplewhilepresident.Hisrulewasshortlivedhowever,forhewasassassinatedin1976.

  • 6.OlusegunObasanjoObasanjoisaformerNigerianArmygeneralwhowasPresidentofNigeriafrom1999to2007.HeisofYurobandescent,andwasacareersoldierintheNigerianArmybeforeservingtwiceashisnation'sheadofstate.Heisuniqueinthatheservedduringbotherasofgovernment,authoritariananddemocratic.Heservedasamilitaryrulerfrom13February1976to1October1979andasademocraticallyelectedpresidentfrom29May1999to29May2007.

    7.ShehuShagariShehuUsmanAliyuShagari,TurakinSakkwato(bornFebruary25,1925[1])servedasthePresidentofNigeriasSecondRepublic(19791983),afterthehandoverofpowerbyGeneralOlusegunObasanjo'smilitarygovernment.ShagariisanorthernerofFulaniextractionandholdsthearistocratictitleofTurakinSakkwatointheSokotoCaliphate.Heworkedasateacherforabriefperiodbeforeenteringpoliticsin1954uponhiselectiontothefederalHouseofRepresentatives.
