1 Overview
This document will guide you, how to do online course registration and course cancellation.
2 KAUST Portal Logon
Login into the Portal - https://portal.kaust.edu.sa/irj/portal with your User ID & Password.
3 Course Registration
Once the Login is successful, click on Student Self Service as shown below

Now click on Course Registration link as indicated below.
You can see online course registration window to start course registration.
1. Select Program of Study and Academic Period, for which you want to register, then click on “Continue” Button
2. Click on button and a screen as below will appear.
Screen Fields / Functionality
• Reg. Window – Specifies the Module Booking Period.
• Holds – Shows If any Holds (Academic / Financial) applicable for the student

• Attempted Credits – Shows the No. of Attempted Credit Hours Student has already booked for the selected
semester
• Waitlist No –No. of Modules booked and are in waitlist are shown.
• Registration Cart No – No. of modules selected and added to Registration Cart available for booking
1. Module Search
1.1. This tab page allows you to search for modules and to either book the module or add it to the registration cart. Users can
also search for modules by section (events/event packages) using section selection criteria.
Click on the Search Tab and a screen as below appears.
Enter the Module to search and click on button. The search results will appear as in the screen below.
You can click on Link to execute an advanced search based on different search criteria as shown in the screen
below
(Note: Please note that a combination of many search parameters may result in no output)
You can select the module by clicking on them to see more details as in the screen below

Click on ‘Section’ Tab to see the sections (Event Packages) offered for the module
2. Module Registration -
2.1. Add to Registration Cart
On the search results screen option is available to select and add the modules to registration cart. Select a
module and click on and message appears. The Course
Registration Header will have information as below
2.2. Registering Courses from Registration Cart
The registration cart shows all the courses that the user intends to book but has not yet booked for the selected context (program and/or program type) and year and session. It also shows all the courses that were suggested by the Advisor / Registrar Office for the given context (program and/or program type) and year and session.
Note: The following items cannot be added to a registration cart:
A course that is already booked but not completed in the same period cannot be added to registration cart
A course that is already in the registration cart
A course that is not offered
A course that is on the waitlist but cannot be moved up

Click on the Tab and the screen as below appears with the courses added to Cart
as in step 2.2
Following activities can be performed via Registration cart
• Check Single selected or All Modules by clicking on button – The system performs checks on the
modules for Time conflict with already Booked Modules, Maximum Credit to be registered etc.
• Register Single selected or All Module by clicking on button – The system performs checks on the
modules for Time conflict with already booked Modules, Maximum Credit to be booked etc. If the
module checks are successful a pop up message appears as below
Click on button and a confirmation message is shown as .
Users can change section (Event package at this screen also)
• Click on buttons to change the Section.
2.3. Credit hour change for Dissertation Courses.
• Check single selected Dissertation course by clicking button. Below pop-up window appears.
Change the credit hour (Attempted Credits) and press the ”ENTER” key on the keyboard. Click
button to submit the selected course for approval with the updated credit hours.
• In Case of button is disabled like . You should see a message as shown
below.

Change the credit hour (Attempted Credits) and press the ”ENTER” key on the keyboard. The button
will be enabled to submit the course for approval.
NOTE: Credit Hour value should be always multiple of 3.
3. My Courses
3.1. Registered Courses
The Registered tab page displays all courses that the student booked and those that were completed successfully in the
selected year/session. Click on Tab ‘My Courses’ and a screen as below appears.
3.2. Cancel Booking

Users can cancel a booking by selecting a course and clicking Cancel Booking by clicking on button . A popup with
details of the booking appears as in screenshot below
Click on button and a message appears. The system will not allow cancellation
depending on the Minimum Credits required for a Semester for the program.
3.3. Cancel With ‘W’ Grade
Students can now Drop courses with ‘W’ grade after Normal Add / Drop Period. Select Module and Click on
button. A Pop Up appears as below with a Warning Message
Click on to continue dropping course with ‘W’ grade
3.4. Cancelled Courses
Cancelled courses can be seen by clicking on ‘Cancelled’ under My Courses and a screen
as below appears
3.5. Swap Sections
Click on to change the event package for a selected module. On clicking a pop up as below appears

Select the event package and click on and another pop up appears for confirmation
Click on button and a message appears
4. Time Table – Click on to output and print the Course timetable for the semester.
5. Academic Work Overview
5.1. Users can see the details about there academics (Module Bookings, Grades, GPA and Total Credits) by clicking on
button Academic Work Overview
On Clicking a New Page opens as below

On the screen select Program of Study and The Academic Period and a screen as below appears
The above screen shows the grades for the Modules, Specialization (Thesis – If applicable), Cumulative GPA and Total
Credits earned till date
