Rancho Mission Viejo Planning Area 2 Master Plan

LocationSouth Orange County, CaliforniaClientRMV Community Development, LLCSWA ScopeCommunity Master PlanSizeSite: 850 acres / 344 hectares

The plan for Rancho Mission Viejo is comprised of the

continuing ranching and agricultural operations, as

well as 17,000 acres of natural open space surrounding

six distinct communities each being designed to its

individual landform and connected by a system of

streets, walking, biking, equestrian, and Neighborhood

Electric Vehicle trails. Six distinct Planning Areas have

been defined for development of 14,000 homes

and 5 million square feet of non-residential uses.

Planning Area 2 is approximately 850 acres and will

include approximately 3,000 dwellings along with

neighborhood retail, schools, child care, and other

support services. Similar to Planning Area 1 and the

remaining Ranch Plan, the residential mix will include

both age-qualified and market rate housing. The

overall Ranch Plan has an approximate 40/60 mix

of age-qualified and market rate in order to control

transportation impacts as well as address the emerging

market of ageing baby boomers in the region.
