This is treating every individual equal and fairly, either in the workplace, training environment or even access to education or employment.
There are 9 protected acts that a trainer/teacher needs to take into consideration these are:

It is a Tutors responsibility to not discriminate towards any of there pupils and to adhere to any needs required to ensure the Equality act is respected.
Teachers and other professionals can promote the Equality act in a number of ways such as:
Treating all staff and students fairlyHaving an inclusive culture for staff and studentsEnsuring all students have equal access to opportunities and participation
Ensuring all learning materials and equipment do not discriminate against any uses
Safeguarding
Providing a safe learning environment for children and students, that also make them feel comfortable to report any problems or worries.
It is the tutors/ trainers responsibility to raise awareness and report any problems if they have any worries or suspect a student or child is being abused or coming to any type of harm.They must adhere to safeguard policies and follow the correct procedure if reporting a problem
How can we promote it and who can help?
Safeguarding is promoted by ensuring ALL trainers/ teachers have a CRB check before teaching.
There will be a safeguard adviser is all schools & collages that will support, help and report any worries or issues with staff and students.
They will work together to ensure any students receive necessary support from other professionals such as:
• Social worker• Councilor • Support worker

Health and Safety
It is everybody's responsibility to follow health & safety, however the tutors role is to:
• Lay out health & safety rules for students • Ensure the workplace is kept safe, hygienic and
hazard free.• Report any faulty equipment or hazards.• Maintain electrical checks regularly

safety and health forums (FESH) to promote a high standard or health and safety
