Jesus Christ and with one another, to welcome all. We seek especially to accompany those on the margins of society, those who have fallen away, the lonely, and all
of those searching for the presence of God. As a community of believers we seek to grow in faith
through worship, grow in love through works of justice and mercy, and grow in hope that God may be

Students visit the State House in support of Catholic School’s Week and our School Band performed at State House.
Please Join us on Tuesday February 25, 2020 at 6:00pm
for Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner. Tickets $5 in Advance $8 at the door.
Tickets will be sold after Masses for the next two weekends.
Shrove Tuesday is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday which is the first day of Lent. Shrove Tuesday is a day of celebration as well as penitence. Lent is a time of abstinence, of giving things up. So Shrove Tuesday is the last chance to indulge yourself, and to use up the foods that aren't allowed in Lent. Giving up foods: but not wasting them. In the old days there were many foods that observant Christians would not eat during Lent: foods such as meat and fish, fats, eggs, and milky foods. So that no food was wasted, families would have a feast on the shriving Tuesday, and eat up all the foods that wouldn't last the forty days of Lent without going bad. Pancakes became associated with Shrove Tuesday as they were a dish that could use up all the eggs, fats and milk in the house with just the addition of flour.

We had a very successful Catholic School’s week and I want to thank everyone who participated in any capacity to make the week extra special. If you know of anyone unable to attend our Open House or Campus Visit Day please have them contact me as I am happy to give a tour of the school. I can be reached via email [email protected] or 739-6937.
Registration for 2020-2021 school year is now open so if you care to give the gift of a Catholic education to your child or grandchild, please contact me to tour the school at [email protected] or 739-6937.
Recently St. Rose of Lima School hosted a Dine-Out at Chelo’s in Warwick. I dined there with my own family. It was so nice to see so many familiar faces at the restaurant. Many children were there with their families, as well as staff and parishioners. We are so fortunate at St. Rose to have a close-knit community which is evident in the way in which the school and parish support one another.
I also want to take this opportunity to thank our Parent Teacher Organization Board for organizing a Father and Daughter Dinner/Dance this past Friday evening. It truly was a special night for girls to spend with their Dads and create memories that will last a lifetime. Many of these events would not be possible without the willingness of parents to give their time. Thank you so much to those that helped organize Friday’s event as well as those parents that volunteered during Catholic Schools’ Week so we could honor our teachers with an Appreciation Luncheon.
Grade 4 students hosted First Friday Mass this week. We are so fortunate at St. Rose to be able to celebrate Mass during school. The school will also be hosting the 9:00am Mass on Ash Wednesday at the church. As always all are welcome to join us.
I can not believe that it is February! It always seems that January just flies by. Our Second graders are busy at practicing their First Penance and doing a great job. When ever we go over the steps and practice it makes me remember my own First Penance. I remember feeling excited and very grown up. I hope that our students are feeling this excitement as well as they approach their special day.
Next weekend is President’s Day Weekend so there is no class. When we return on February 23, 2020, we will host a Children’s Mass at 10:30 Mass. We hope that all our Faith Formation families join us.
Grades 6-10 will meet again on February 23, 2020 from 3:30 pm to 4:45pm. Please remember 5:00pm Mass is part of class time. If you have already attended Mass that weekend, please let Mrs. Czepyha know so you can be dismissed at 4:45pm. If you have any questions, please let Mrs. Czepyha know.
First Communion Families Please remember we meet next Tuesday February 12th for our meeting that will cover details about First Penance and First Communion. If for some reason you cannot make this meeting, please see me as there is paperwork you will need to fill out.
2/12 First Penance Meeting 6:30 pm Church Grade 2 Parents. This meeting is just for Parents. We will go over the details of First Penance and First Communion. If you have not already provided us with a copy of your students Baptismal Certificate, please bring it with you so it can be copied and put into your child’s record.

Would you like to join the parish choir? Rehearsals resume for Lent, Holy Week, Easter & Confirmation on Thursday evenings at 7pm.
While the 10:30 mass is considered the "choir mass", you are welcome to join Kelly at any mass that you'd like to attend. We would love to start a "Teen Choir" at the Sunday 5PM mass. It is just asked that you try to make the Thursday night rehearsals to learn the music, and try to join the larger choir on masses such at Easter and Christmas. But if you can't, that's perfectly fine!!!
Feel free to contact Kelly with any questions or visit her after any mass. The future of the choir depends on parishioners stepping up and making the commitment. Yes, it’s hard work, it is also a rewarding experience. Please consider the possibilities. Thanks! And remember - He who signs, prays twice!!!

Mother Teresa Outreach Ministry
Table of Plenty, the meal service arm of the Mother Teresa Outreach Ministry, is generously supported through parishioner donations and Savers fundraisers. We serve 150 meals at two meal sites in Oakland Beach and West Warwick, and Kathy Rapoza coordinates meal deliveries to the homebound. Depending on the meal, it can cost between $200 to $400 to feed that many people. Local businesses and individuals have made donations directly to cover the cost of a meal. We would be happy to recognize you or your business for donating meal; please be sure to write Mother Teresa in the memo line of your check. We are grateful for your generosity.
For more information, please contact Deb Nelson ([email protected]).
Our JJ Youth Group will be helping in the Garden! We are very excited that our group will be helping in the garden this year! Everything we help plant and grow will be donated to the groups that the garden
helps support like the Food Bank and Mother Teresa Outreach.
This project allows our kids to help and pay it forward for their community. As the warm weather approaches, we will post a schedule
when we will be in the garden and anyone is welcome to help us. Please join us at our next JJ Youth Group Meeting on February 18, 2020 from 5:30-7:00pm in the Youth Group Room. We will be painting rocks to
be placed in the garden and talking about how we can help in the garden. Along with our usual fun of games and snacks!
Anyone from grades 2-5 are welcome to join us. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Czepyha at [email protected]
The Men of St. Joseph will hold their bi-weekly meeting on Saturday, February 15th from 7:30 am-9:00 am
