Mother Teresa Outreach Ministry Fundraiser Angelo's Restaurant is holding a fundraiser for the Mother Teresa Outreach Ministry. When you dine at Angelo's anytime in October, 10% of your total bill - before taxes - will be donated when you present them with a coupon card. In addition, all donations to their Choo Choo Charities in October will go to the Mother Teresa Outreach Ministry. Angelo's has a train running on a track around the restaurant and patrons deposit a quarter for it to run. Coupons will be available after Mass this weekend or contact Karen Pertuso at [email protected] or 401-588-1666.

Military Service? We would like to recognize the service and sacrifice of our parishioners in and out of the military. Please email or call Don Cerullo (401-443-0618 or [email protected]) if you, or you know a parishioner, who is serving or served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard or National Guard so you may receive the recognition you deserve.
For Veteran's Day, we will be recognizing all of our veterans with flags in the front of the church personalized with the name of each veteran. Families may take their flag home with them.
I’ve been in New England now for eleven years, which doesn’t feel possible. I moved here in August 2007 just a couple of months after graduating from divinity school and settled into a sublet full of college kids on Ives St. for the first six weeks before Matt could join me and we found a rental. Even that first year, the magic of autumn here in the Northeast was captivating to me: the slow movement from lush, green summer to cooler air and the golden hues of the trees in fall. I adore taking my children to apple orchards, pumpkin patches, celebrating Halloween in our neighborhood, and feasting on cider doughnuts, soups, and any number of pumpkin spice treats.
There’s a deeper beauty in autumn as well. While nature looks lovely all spring and summer, God’s creation really shines this time of year. It is now, as the leaves begin to die, that they turn to the reds, oranges, yellows, and golds that grab our attention. As they wither away, the trees show us just how beautiful it can be to let go. It is actually in its death and descent towards winter that nature puts on her most spectacular show and invites all of us to consider things in our lives that now need to be let go. What are we holding on to in our lives that God is now calling us to drop? Is there resentment towards a family member weighing us down? Perhaps we are still kicking ourselves for past mistakes or what we wished we had done or not done.
As we revel in the loveliness of October in New England, my prayer is that we are also moved by God’s handiwork in creation and how it mimics the life after death we know in the Church. If the trees kept their leaves all winter, they would get weighed down with snow and break, endangering the life of the tree and the people living nearby. So it is for us--holding on to the anxieties and pain that keep us from God and our neighbor ultimately breaks us. Letting those go in greater service to Christ and to one another relieves us of their weight and readys us for whatever abundance God might have in store.

Sunday ~ October 7, 2018
There are no classes this weekend as our families are enjoying time together for the long weekend. We return next Sunday with both our programs and our first Children’s Mass at 10:30. Our Grade 5 is hosting. Children have been given assignments for their roles at Mass and letters were sent home last week. Hope to see all our Faith Formation families at 10:30 Mass next week. On October 14th our Grades 6-10 classes will meet again at 3:30. Please remember that 5:00 pm Mass is part of the program and the students will be attending as a class. If your family is also attending, you do have the option of your child sitting with their family if you wish. Classes will be dismissed from the church. We hope that families join us for this Mass. Like of Children’s Mass the students will be serving at this Mass. (If you have a younger child in the morning program as well and you attend our Children’s Mass as a family your older child may be dismissed at 5pm.)
Consider Fulfilling Your Baptismal Promise:
We are in need of some more people to run discussion groups in our Grades 6-10 program. If you have made your Confirmation, then you can join us. Please consider this wonderful opportunity to help our youth strengthen their faith while living out your baptismal promise.
If you are interested in being part of our young people’s faith journey in any way, please consider helping with Faith Formation or Liturgy of the Word. Please consider joining the many that already guide our youth in their faith. Let this be the way you share your time and talent with the youth in our parish and become a part of their journey in faith.
It is not just the adults that can offer their Time and Talents our older Youth are also invited to join us! Please consider sharing your time and talent with the younger youth of the Parish.
Youth Group Our Youth Group for grades 2-5 will meet again on October 16th at 5:30 pm in the Youth Group room. We will be making some Halloween treats along with other Halloween activities. If you have never joined us for Youth Group, you can at any time. You do not have to be part of the Parish to join so if you have a friend you would like to bring all are welcome. If you have any questions about Youth Group, please contact Mrs. Rachael Czepyha at [email protected].
Recently players from the Providence College Hockey team visited our students. They read some stories and shared their personal experience about playing hockey. It was exciting as the PC Mascot also came and the players gave each child a signed poster.
On Saturday, November 17th the school Chorus will be singing at a Friars VS. Merrimack Hockey Game. If you care to attend this event and support our school Chorus, as well as the Friars, please visit FRIARS.COM/TICKETS and click on Men’s Hockey. If you use PROMO CODE: STROSE18 your ticket will be issued for a seat in a section reserved for the St. Rose community. This is a nice family night out!
While our Chorus performs at sporting events, they also provide us with all the music at our school Masses. We celebrated First Friday Mass this past week and as always, the music was wonderful. I want to again thank Mrs. Lorraine Gagnon for her commitment to this program and also our Grade 7 students for hosting the Mass.
Our Parent Teacher Organization met to discuss some exciting events we are planning this this Fall. Please save the date Friday, October 28th as both school and parish families are invited to participate in Trick or Trunk from 5:45pm-6:45pm in the church parking lot. All children must be accompanied by a parent and
further details are forthcoming. Hope many families participate in one or both of these St. Rose community events.

TRANSITIONING TOGETHER “Transitioning Together” is a new space in the St Francis/St Catherine and Sts Rose & Clement bulletins. The column is designed to keep you up-to-date on news about the relationship which is taking shape between our parishes. In the weeks and months ahead, it will feature news from the planning committee and highlights of events that are taking place at all three places. In addition, different ministries will be spotlighted so that we can get to know one another a little better. If your group would like to be featured, please contact Kelly at [email protected].
The Tri-Parish Planning committee formed last fall as a part of the citywide Warwick Parish-Planning process. Representatives from Sts Rose & Clements, St Francis, and St Catherine parishes have been meeting for over a year now as we look to our future together. No final plans or decisions have been made to date, but the committee has been sharing information about what each parish has to offer our new combined community in regard to ministries, events, liturgies, and facilities.
The Tri-Parish planning group is led by Father Matt and Father Plante and is made up of fourteen very committed parishioners who are enthused about the process and hopeful for a bright future. These committee members represent you. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please let them know.
