AMD Portal Update
AMD Portal Update: Still Beta?
http://gcmd.gsfc.nasa.gov/KeywordSearch/Home.do?Portal=amd-beta&MetadataType=0
AMD Portal Update: New Search Page
AMD Portal Update: docBUILDER Page
AMD Portal Update: Next Steps
- Beta site is still running parallel to existing AMD site.
- Any outstanding issues with new site that need to be addressed?
- If all issues are resolved, we can schedule replacement of existing site with updated site.
Methods for Submitting Metadata to AMD: Old and New
Different Methods for Metadata Submissions
- docBUILDER (one DIF at a time)
- FTP site (metadata records made available via secure site for GCMD to access)*
- Harvest via OAI-PMH (metadata records made available to GCMD to access via harvesting protocol)*
- Bulk Uploader (validate and/or submit multiple metadata records in DIF format directly to GCMD)*
- ISO records (metadata records in ISO format may be submitted via FTP site or OAI-PMH harvest; GCMD will translate to DIF format)*
*Contact Alicia Aleman [email protected]
Submitting DIFs via Harvesting Protocol (OAI-PMH)
Send the following information via email to: [email protected]
- Repository name
- Repository base URL (i.e. http://mercury.ornl.gov/oai/provider)
- Metadata format being harvested (i.e. oai_dif)
-# DIFs
- Frequency of harvests
Submitting DIFs via Bulk Uploader
- Upload multiple DIF records to the GCMD metadata queue
- Validate records (links and syntax) and send an email to the provider with validation results
-NASA EOSDIS/URS authentication required for access: https://urs.eosdis.nasa.gov/
AMD data providers who want to use the new tool should send an email to [email protected]

Submitting DIFs via Bulk Uploader
When authoring DIF records outside of the GCMD/AMD (docBUILDER), please make sure to use the
current DIF schema and Keyword sets.
Very Important!

Software Updates
- MWS new default behavior: A fix to the Metadata Web System RESTFul API was implemented to return XML as the default format instead of plain text for a query’s output.
- New Portals: Southern Ocean Observing System (SOOS); Swedish Antarctic Research Program
- Delete flag added to md_entry and service_entry. This new feature allows DIF and SERF metadata records that have been deleted to be automatically ‘flagged’ and found via the Metadata Web Service (MWS) using the following query syntax: /mws/dif/<entry_id>?deleted=true or any query with 'deleted=true'.
