It’sbeensuchaninspiringtermofclasses.OurYear7andYear 8 students explored how the good news of Christspreadto‘theendsoftheearth’.

Acts1:8“ButyouwillreceivepowerwhentheHolySpiritcomesonyou;andyouwillbemywitnessesinJerusalem,and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of theearth.”

Webeganby researching the locations of Paul’s travelsacrosstheGreco-Romanworld.Studentsproducedsome

thedustyroadblog.wordpress.comdustytravellerblog.wordpress.comapostlediaries.wordpress.comtravelsofahumbleapostle.wordpress.comFollowing this, together we read through the book ofActs, constantly referring back to the geographical andhistorical notes that students researched for the classblogs. We asked:Why did the good news spread?Whydid people risk so much to share this good news?Students gave inspiring responses when learning aboutwhatitmeanstohaveboldfaith.

Thankyou toourYear7andYear8volunteer teachers;they led thisunitbrilliantly.Thestudents reallyenjoyedtheclassblogs.Weall learntsomuch!WesawstudentsgrapplingwithwhatitmeanstofollowChrist, andwhatitmeant for the gospel to be spread to ‘the ends of theearth’(Acts1:8).

Year9We started with a new cohort of Year 9 students thisterm, and we asked the question, “Who is Jesus?”accordingtoLuke’sgospel.Students learntthatChrist is“The Unexpected Saviour” and they explored what thegood news actuallymeans, why the good news isgoodand how Christ was unexpected. Students explored thepersonal and prophetic history of Christ according toLuke’sgospel, readingtheScripturescomprehensively.Itwasexcitingtoseethisnewgroupgrowintheirfaithandappreciation for Christ. They’ve asked bold questions, and learntaboutChrist in theScripturesof Luke.Thankyou to our wonderful Year 9 teachers for facilitating asafe space of questions, and developing relationshipswiththiswonderfulnewgroupofstudents.WeareverymuchanticipatingwhatTerm4willbring.

A voice that tells their story, unashamedly standing up for those who sufferpersecution.Open Doors is an organisation that works in over 60countriestostrengthenandempowerChristianswhoarepersecutedfortheirfaithinJesus.Thisterm,ourYear11and Year 12 students had the privilege of hearing fromJamesAlgeofromOpenDoorsYouth, speakingonissuesrelated to the persecuted church. His stories of thepersecuted church, and of bold and radical faith hadstudentsabsolutelyengaged.Studentsgrappledwithandconsidered that it is actually very dangerous to be aperson of faith in many countries in the world. Mostinspiringly, our students took the time to pray for thepersecutedchurch. Jamesencouraged them to love likeChristloved:

“But I tell you, love your enemies andprayforthosewhopersecuteyou.”Matthew5:44

It was an enormous pleasure to have James with us,inspiringour Year 11 andYear 12 students. PleaseprayforYear12’supcomingexams.

TAGTAG (our lunchtime ministry ISCF group supported byScriptureUnion) is absolutely thehighlightofmyweek. This is an opportunity for students of different yeargroups to meet to together and discuss life and faith. We’ve loved meeting together. This term, we workedthrough a series on ‘Stories of Faith’ listening to thestories of unremarkable people – everyday people likeyouandme–wholivelivesoffaithandbeliefinGod.Weshared our struggles, andwe prayed together. We alsohad one of our teachers, Luke Collings (from All SaintsLindfield),aswellasAdamSmyth(fromScriptureUnion)sharetheirstories‘live’withthegroup.Welovedhavingtheopportunity toaskthemquestionsandtopraywiththem.Weweresoencouraged.ChurchvisitsThankyoutothevariouschurcheswhoinvitedmealongto shareand speakwith their communities this term.
