I’m thankful for your prayers for us! Your encouragement and support reminds me very much of Paul’s words: “I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 1:3-6 God is continuing his great work at Killara High School. I wanted to pause to say thank you for your part in that! It’s been such an inspiring term of classes. Our Year 7 and Year 8 students explored how the good news of Christ spread to ‘the ends of the earth’. Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” We began by researching the locations of Paul’s travels across the Greco-Roman world. Students produced some exceptional work. Take a moment to view their research collaborations on their class blogs: thedustyroadblog.wordpress.com dustytravellerblog.wordpress.com apostlediaries.wordpress.com travelsofahumbleapostle.wordpress.com Following this, together we read through the book of Acts, constantly referring back to the geographical and historical notes that students researched for the class blogs. We asked: Why did the good news spread? Why did people risk so much to share this good news? Students gave inspiring responses when learning about what it means to have bold faith. Thank you to our Year 7 and Year 8 volunteer teachers; they led this unit brilliantly. The students really enjoyed the class blogs. We all learnt so much! We saw students grappling with what it means to follow Christ, and what it meant for the gospel to be spread to ‘the ends of the earth’ (Acts 1:8). Year 9 We started with a new cohort of Year 9 students this term, and we asked the question, “Who is Jesus?” according to Luke’s gospel. Students learnt that Christ is “The Unexpected Saviour” and they explored what the good news actually means, why the good news is good and how Christ was unexpected. Students explored the personal and prophetic history of Christ according to Luke’s gospel, reading the Scriptures comprehensively. It was exciting to see this new group grow in their faith and appreciation for Christ. They’ve asked bold questions, and learnt about Christ in the Scriptures of Luke. Thank you to our wonderful Year 9 teachers for facilitating a safe space of questions, and developing relationships with this wonderful new group of students. We are very much anticipating what Term 4 will bring.
