SECTION 1. SAFETY INFORMATION
1-1. Special User AttentionThe procedures described in this manual will be performed by representatives of the owner (staff or contracted service), therefore it is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that all safety precautions are followed. Only qualified and trained individuals should attempt the installation of this product.
1-2. Safety PrecautionsThe following is a summary of DANGERS, WARNINGS, and CAUTIONS denoted in this manual. These precautions are found throughout the manual where they are applicable. Carefully read the manual before proceeding to operate or service the equipment.

2-2. Electrical RequirementsCAUTION
This fixture requires that electrical connections are made by a licensed electrician in accordance with state, local, and national electrical codes using UL (Underwriters Laboratory) recognized materials.
DO NOT turn on main power to fixture until lightheads are installed, connections are complete, and the fixture has been reviewed by a SKYTRON representative.ELECTRICAL HAZARDS EXIST!Exercise caution when working on this fixture, the installation of this fixture must be made only by qualified and authorized personnel familiar with the essential knowledge and techniques.
2-3. ESD Sensitive DevicesWhen installing devices with electronic circuit boards (e.g., lightheads, wall control units), appropriate precautions should be taken to prevent damage caused by electrostatic discharge (ESD). These precautions include as a minimum, the use of an ESD wrist strap that is properly connected to an ESD ground.
2-4. National Electric Code, NFPA & ANSI RequirementsThe installation of connecting cords between equipment parts shall meet the requirements of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA70, IEC 60601-1 and all local codes, as applicable.
2-5. Bending RequirementsConnection leads shall be constructed in such a manner that moveable leads in normal use are not bent around a radius of less than five (5) times the outer diameter of the lead concerned. Avoid conditions employing severe bends to ensure the integrity of conductors.
2-6. Conduit RequirementsUse of approved metal conduit shall be employed throughout the fixture's wiring circuit where applicable.

2-7. Protective Means
WARNING
To avoid the risk of electric shock, this equipment must only be connected to a supply mains with protective earth ground.

Proper performance and safety of this fixture can only be achieved by an adequate grounding system. Fixture ground must be a dedicated ground point ultimately bonded to the facilities grounding system to prevent the migration of electrical interference generated by other devices.
2-8. Final AssemblyAll installations of SKYTRON Surgical Lights should be under the direct supervision of a SKYTRON authorized representative.Prior to the fixture being placed in service, the SKYTRON authorized representative must initialize the fixture and complete the installation report.To maintain product warranty and performance, this product requires routine service. Contact your SKYTRON representative for factory service or preventive maintenance contracts.

4-1. UncratingShould any damage to the fixture be noted while uncrating, further unpacking should be stopped and the container with all the wrappings held for inspection. The transportation company should be notified immediately so an inspector can be sent. Consult the Damaged Shipment Claim Procedure sheet for further details.Personnel uncrating SKYTRON surgical lights should be aware that they are delicate medical equipment and special care in handling should prevail throughout installation.

4-2. Typical InstallationsThe TR-7C fixture can be mounted in one of two (2) configurations.
a. Standard Ceiling MountIn the standard ceiling mount configuration (Figure 4-1), the customer supplied mounting structure is installed so the mounting adapter and cover will assemble over and cover the hole in the ceiling.
b. Recessed Ceiling MountIn the recessed ceiling mount configuration (Figure 4-2), the customer supplied mounting structure is installed so the mounting adapter and cover are installed so they are recessed above the ceiling. An optional disc cover (PN USA-001-411) is installed on the VST to cover the hole in the ceiling.

5-1. Install Mounting Fixturea. Check the strength and stability of the customer supplied mounting structure. Verify that the mounting structure height has been installed at the appropriate height and that it is level.
WARNING
Facility supplied wiring must be disconnected and locked out from the power source.
b. Route the facility supplied 100-120/ 200-240VAC, 50/60 Hz power source wiring through conduit to the mounting adapter plate (Figure 5-1). Figure 5-2. Fixure Mounting Hub Assembly
e. Assemble the fixture mounting hub assembly to the threaded rods on the adapter mounting assembly using the supplied 7/16" hex nuts, washers, and lock washers (Figure 5-3).

NOTICE
On a standard mounting configuration, the installed mounting adapter plate should butt up against the ceiling and should cover the opening in the ceiling.
d. Obtain the fixture mounting hub assembly. Remove the cotter pins and mounting pins from each side of the fixture mounting hub (Figure 5-2). Set cotter keys and mounting pins aside.

Make sure there is at least 1½ inches (38 mm) clearance between the mounting adapter and the fixture mounting hub.
f. Use a digital level to check the level of fixture mounting hub. Use the jam nuts on the threaded rods as required to adjust or level the fixture mounting hub.g. Obtain the Vertical Support Tube (VST) and pull the connector and cable out from the ceiling end of the tube.

h. Carefully slide the connector end of the VST onto the fixture mounting hub and align holes for mounting pins. Assemble mounting pins and cotter pins (removed in Step d) to secure the VST to the fixture mounting hub (Figure 5-4 and 5-5).

1. Slide cover up on VST until the fixture mount plate is inside the cover and the cover rest against the ceiling.2. When the cover is in place, slide the ring up against the cover and tighten the two (2) screws to secure the cover in place on the VST.
m. On a recessed ceiling light configuration, perform the following (Figure 5-10):

1. Slide the cover up on the VST until the fixture mounting plate is inside the cover.2. When the cover is in place, slide the ring up against the cover on the VST, then tighten the two (2) screws on the ring to secure it in place on the VST.3. Slide the disc cover and ring on the end of the VST.4. Slide the disc cover up on the VST until the cover rest up against the ceiling.5. When the disc cover is in place, slide the ring up against the cover on the VST, then tighten the two (2) screws on the ring to secure the it in place on the VST.

WARNING
Beware of potential injury from unfolding spring arm.
a. Obtain radial arm and spring arm assembly.
b. Gently pry the two halves of the cover apart on the VST end of the radial arm (Figure 5-11).

5-3. Install Lightheada. Remove the set screw from the sleeve on the end of the spring arm (Figure 5-17).
Figure 5-17. Remove Set Screwb. Turn sleeve 180° until safety key is accessible in slot in sleeve (Figure 5-18). Remove safety key and yellow plastic plug.
f. While holding the radial arm mounting stub in place (Figure 5-14), install the washer, then safety washer, followed by two (2) locking rings. Ensure that the tooth on the safety washer aligns with the hole in the VST.

c. Obtain lighthead assembly. Carefully insert the brush block end of the light head into the end of the spring arm and slide the light head onto the spring arm (Figure 5-19).

d. Install safety key, then turn sleeve 180° on spring arm (Figure 5-20).
