Calvin Morgan Found DyingOne of the most startling tragedies
which has shocked the people of Lexington in many years occurred Sundayevening when Calvin Morgan nephewof Gen John H Morgan and one ofthe wealthiest and best known youngmen of Lexington was found lying inbed at his home with a bullet hole inhis hsad while a smoking pistol layon the pillow beside him
It has been Mr Morgans customto keep the pistol under his pillowand it is not known whether the shotwas fired with suicidal intent or thepistol was accidentally discharged durnig Mr Morgans attempt to place itunder his pillow before going to sleepfor the night He was unconsciouswhen found by his mother the onlyother person in the house and wasattracted by the sound of the pistolMr Morgan died two hours later without regaining consciousness
Calvin Morgan was 35 years of ageand was a son of Col Calvin Morgana brother of Gen John H Morgan andwho himself served with distinctionthroughout the war in the famous
