After working for the Inland Revenue for over 16 years as a senior tax
lawyer, I have started practicing on my own account as a barrister and
solicitor specialising in tax law and immigration law.
TAX EXPERIENCEInitially I worked for the Inland Revenue’s
Centre of Legal Excellence, the Offi ce of
the Chief Tax Counsel, and later moved
to the Department’s Large Enterprises Unit
in Wellington. More recently, I have been
advising Inland Revenue’s Investigations
Unit on complex tax issues and the use
of the Commissioner’s powers by Inland
Revenue staff.
In recent years I have focu sed on tax
avoidance issues, taxation of life insurance
products, issues involving Crown entities,
tax disputes, and preparing specialist tax law
advice from Inland Revenue to taxpayers in
the form of binding rulings and indicative
views.
