Lancer  Legacy

We  are  thrilled  to  announce  the  2016  Lancer  Legacy  Honorees,  pictured  above:

Sister  Carol  Ann,  St.  Michael  Principal  from  1995-‐2004,  who  recently  celebrated  her  50th  Jubilee

Sister  Robert  Clare,  St.  Michael  Teacher          from  1991-‐2004,  who  recently  retired  after  57

years  teaching  elementary  school

The  Lancer  Legacy  award  was  established  2  years  ago  to  honor  those  dedicated  to  Catholic  education,  whose  lives  embody  the  virtues  of  humility  and  service,  and  who  have  had  lasting  impact  on  the  St.  Michael  Parish  School  community.

At  the  2016  Blue  &  Gold  Gala  on  February  5th,  we  honor  both  Sister  Carol  Ann  and  Sister  Robert  Clare  who  made  substantial  contributions  to  St.  Michael  and  to  Catholic  education  throughout  their  vocations.  Sister  Robert  Clare  will  join  us  that  night!

Please  join  us  at  the  Gala!    Alumni,  previous  school  families  &  parishioners  are  all  encouraged  to  attend.  Visit  our  school  website  for  tickets.

Taking  the  Challenge

We  have  experienced  some  incredible  academic  opportunities  for  students  to  exercise  their  knowledge  through  competition.  Their  achievements  are  many.    We  recognize  their  hard  work,  courage  and  mental  tenacity!

Congratulations  to  our  students  who  recently  competed  in  the  Fenwick  Science  Competition,  the  Benet  Academic  Bowl,  the  Montini  Math  Competition,  the  St.  Francis  Math  Competition  and  the  Marmion  Academy  Math  Contest.  Our  students  earned  incredible  team  and  individual  awards!  We  are  so  proud  of  all  of  you.

As  well,  we  awarded  the  School  Champion  of  the  2016  National  Geography  Bee,  Drew  Jensen,  on  January  8th.  Great  job  to  all  our  student  finalists.    We  look  forward  to  further  academic  excitement  with  the  upcoming  Spelling  Bee  and  Poetry  Elocution  Contest.

Big  Things  in  Small  Packages

What  do  Apple  TV,  Ukuleles,  walkie-‐talkies  and  new  iPads  have  in  common?    You’ll  now

find  them  all  here  at  St.  Michael!

We  are  delighted  to  now  be  using  Apple  TV  in  all  classrooms,  connecting  our  SmartBoards  and  iPads.    Plus,  ninety  additional  iPads  bring  us  closer  to  1:1  in  every  classroom.  The  excitement  among  staff  and  students  alike  is  palpable!

Also  new,  every  teacher  now  carries  a  walkie-‐talkie,  adding  the  security  measure  of  immediate  internal  communication.

And  ukuleles?    Well…  let’s  just  say  3rd  Grade  music  class  is  moving  to  a  whole  new  level!
