Jan 31- Feb 6 – Catholic Schools Week Feb 1 – Spelling Bee Feb 5 – 23 rd Annual Blue & Gold Gala NEW YEAR…NEW CELEBRATIONS Lancer Legacy We are thrilled to announce the 2016 Lancer Legacy Honorees, pictured above: Sister Carol Ann, St. Michael Principal from 19952004, who recently celebrated her 50 th Jubilee Sister Robert Clare, St. Michael Teacher from 19912004, who recently retired after 57 years teaching elementary school The Lancer Legacy award was established 2 years ago to honor those dedicated to Catholic education, whose lives embody the virtues of humility and service, and who have had lasting impact on the St. Michael Parish School community. At the 2016 Blue & Gold Gala on February 5 th , we honor both Sister Carol Ann and Sister Robert Clare who made substantial contributions to St. Michael and to Catholic education throughout their vocations. Sister Robert Clare will join us that night! Please join us at the Gala! Alumni, previous school families & parishioners are all encouraged to attend. Visit our school website for tickets. Taking the Challenge We have experienced some incredible academic opportunities for students to exercise their knowledge through competition. Their achievements are many. We recognize their hard work, courage and mental tenacity! Congratulations to our students who recently competed in the Fenwick Science Competition, the Benet Academic Bowl, the Montini Math Competition, the St. Francis Math Competition and the Marmion Academy Math Contest. Our students earned incredible team and individual awards! We are so proud of all of you. As well, we awarded the School Champion of the 2016 National Geography Bee, Drew Jensen, on January 8 th . Great job to all our student finalists. We look forward to further academic excitement with the upcoming Spelling Bee and Poetry Elocution Contest. Big Things in Small Packages What do Apple TV, Ukuleles, walkietalkies and new iPads have in common? You’ll now find them all here at St. Michael! We are delighted to now be using Apple TV in all classrooms, connecting our SmartBoards and iPads. Plus, ninety additional iPads bring us closer to 1:1 in every classroom. The excitement among staff and students alike is palpable! Also new, every teacher now carries a walkie talkie, adding the security measure of immediate internal communication. And ukuleles? Well… let’s just say 3 rd Grade music class is moving to a whole new level! Lancer  Legacy
