Maracanã Stadium The interior in the Estádio do Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was inspired by the Benjamin Moore 2010 Envision color palette. Benjamin Moore’s Cedar Green creates a calm, inviting waiting area, symbolizing the natural colors in Brazil. Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, was the motivation behind the curvilinear lines that provide visual movement throughout the space. Natural finishes create an environmentally friendly room, including plants which improve indoor air quality. A contemporary splattered paint wall, located behind the reception desk, creates a focal point to the room and uses many of the colors found in the Envision color palette. The museum is designed with hexagonal shapes and colors commonly found on a fútbol field. Most notably, the display cases resemble the traditional shape of the stitched-together leather patches that make a fútbol. In this space, they are used to hold artifacts, as well as for the purpose of way-finding throughout the museum. The construction of these cases consists of a walnut wood base with clear glass to the ceiling. Further, a stained black concrete floor is used to anchor the space drawing your eye toward the illuminated artifacts. Also found in this area are custom-made hexagonal benches covered in eco-friendly green material, in a matching geometric pattern. Each bench also sports a built-in plant located in its center. Meeting rooms found in the Estádio do Maracanã were designed to provide a relaxed, informal setting. Movable seating, as well as low circular tables create a conversational area without giving anyone a sense of precedence or superiority. Paint with a blueberry hue was chosen in this area to create a clean-feeling atmosphere. The overall goal in these rooms is to create an open and relaxing environment that stimulates creativity.
