TUES 13 – SAT 17 MARCH The Royal Shakespeare Company’s new production of The Taming of the Shrew, Shakespeare’s sometimes controversial romantic comedy exploring love and sexual politics, will be visiting the Theatre Royal Nottingham from 13 – 17 March.

Directed by Lucy Bailey, the production features Lisa Dillon and David Caves as the sparring lovers, Katharina and Petruchio.

Lisa Dillon is known to millions as Mary Smith in the BBC drama, Cranford. On stage she has played Desdemona in Othello for the RSC, with other stage credits including The Hour We Knew Nothing Of Each Other and Present Laughter (National Theatre), The Cherry Orchard and As You Like It (Sheffield Crucible), Design for

Living (Old Vic) and Period of Adjustment and Hedda Gabler (Almeida). Lisa also starred in the Stephen Fry film, Bright Young Things.

The group of young people will be working on a diverse range of projects, and with the support of Curve’s staff, will be developing arts initiatives within their chosen communities. The scheme seeks to raise the standard of arts-led experiences in local communities and will provide unique training opportunities in the youth sector.

The participants for this first year of the scheme were chosen following the presentation of their projects to a panel of young people and members of Curve’s production team in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style pitch.

The initial 10-week course of this year-long training will start in February 2012 and will be led by Curve staff alongside visiting artists, with input from a YAE Steering Group, made up of other

Makes 8 pancakes

2 x 298g cans mandarin segments, drained250g tub mascarpone6 Tbsp lemon curd100g plain flourPinch of salt1 egg300ml milkOil for fryingIcing sugar or caster sugar for serving

1. Blend the mascarpone with the lemon curd and place in a refrigerator.2. In a bowl blend the flour and salt together. Make a hollow in the centre and add the egg.3. Whisk the egg into the flour and then gradually add milk, until all the flour is worked in and batter is smooth.4. Lightly oil a frying pan and heat until it is hot. Pour in enough batter to cover the base of the pan. Cook for one or two minutes on a medium heat until the underside is golden brown.5. Turn over or flip the pancake and cook the other side for a further minute.6. Layer the pancakes between pieces of greaseproof paper and keep warm in the oven on a low heat.7. Pile the mandarins and spoonfuls of mascarpone on one quarter of each pancake, fold in half and half again.8. Eat while the pancakes are still warm, sprinkled with icing sugar or caster sugar.

1. Place the orange segments with the juice in a large bowl, add the drained grapefruit.2. Halve the grapes and add to the

195g can sweetcorn, drained8 rashers streaky bacon100g plain flour1tsp baking powder1 medium egg150ml milkSeasoningOil for fryingMaple syrup to serve

1. Sift the flour and baking powder together into a bowl. Make a hollow in the centre and add an egg.2. 55 minutes or until the sponge bounces back when lightly pressed and a skewer inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean. Set aside to cool, and then remove from the tin on to a wire rack, the cake must be cold to the touch before you frost it.

5. For the side of the cake - melt the plain chocolate in a bowl over a pan of hot water.6. Once the chocolate is melted re-move the bowl from the pan and leave to cool for several minutes and then stir in the cream. Leave the mixture to thicken for a few minutes7. Spread the chocolate mixture around the sides of the cake.For the top of the cake - lightly whip the cream cheese until smooth, sieve over the icing sugar and then beat them both together. Or use a proces-sor, putting the unsieved icing sugar in first and blitz to remove lumps before adding the cream cheese. Add the cream and beat again until it makes a spreadable consistency. Top generously with the cream cheese frosting so that it resembles the frothy top of the famous pint.

SIDE:150g(5oz) dark chocolate50ml(2fl oz) double creamTOP:300g(10oz) Philadelphia cream cheese200g(8oz) icing sugar125ml(4fl oz) double or whipping cream50g (1¾oz) unsalted butter, softened300g (10½oz) icing sugar125g (4½oz) full-fat cream cheeseCocoa powder, for dusting (optional)

1. Preheat the oven to 170°C (325°F)/gas mark 3, then line the base of a20cm (8in) diameter spring-form cake tin with baking parchment.2. Pour the Guinness into a saucepan, add the butter then gently heat until do not boil). Remove the pan from the heat and stir the cocoa powder and the sugar into the warm liquid. Mix

together the eggs, vanilla essence and buttermilk by hand in a jug, and then add this to the mixture in the pan.3. Sift together the remaining sponge ingredients into a large bowl. Using an electric mixer, set on a low speed, pour in the contents of the pan. Thoroughly mix until all the ingredients are incor-porated.4. Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin and bake for approximately

The BMW 640d Coupé is also fitted as standard with an eight-speed automatic transmission with auto start-stop and active air flaps behind the kidney grille. Such engineering expertise is

the reason why the model of-fers zesty performance but can still achieve 51.4mpg on the combined cycle and record CO2 emissions of 145g/km.

The 6 Series Coupé went on sale in the UK in October 2011. BMW UK expects to sell around 1,100 models in its first full year with the diesel powered version accounting for 90 per-cent of sales..
