To initiate socio-technical process of humanand institutional capacity building

Coordination, Cooperation and Possibilities
WRTC is the member of Global Water Partnership (GWP) since2003
WRTC is also a founding member of Myanmar Water Partnership(MmWP).
WRTC is the Steering Committee Member of the Water andSanitation Thematic Group (WTG). WRTC actively participated inthe WASH (Water and Sanitation Hygiene) activities with themember organizations. Last year we did WASH activities in TwantayT/S. & Wal Phalout Thout village. Also provided WASH training to
the children from Dagon Township Pilot Area. This year we will doso in the State High School close to WRTC office in Kamayut MyaKan Tha Housing block.

Collaborate with IUCN (The World Conservation Union) for translatingFLOW (The Essentials of Environmental Flow) book from English toMyanmar Language. Today WRTC distributes FLOW books to the attendees.

Coordination, Cooperation and Possibilities
Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) has been asked toChair the "International Collaboration Working Group(ICWG)" of the Environ-Klean Technologists Associates(EKTA) organization and WRTC is currently acting asSecretariat of the ICWG of EKTA.
WRTC is committed to water issues in Myanmar.
WRTC wishes to offer our facilities and office room toopen the Coordination Office for Water Issues and
welcome the cooperation and partnership from otherorganizations and individuals.

Technology, Methodology and Information
Water WRTC always disseminates information, doesresearch and conducts capacity building and trainings onWater education and Water issues for young graduates.
Research WRTC does various research ranging from floodsto food security and GIS application, Water and Gender andIWRM (Integrated Water Resources Management). Currentresearch focuses in Nargis affected area. WRTC is a partnerorganization of M-POWER. M-POWER stands for MekongProgramme on Water, Environment and Resilience.
http://www.mpowernet.org. WRTC also hosted an M-POWERresearch fellow and occasionally student interns fromGermany who worked with Irrigation Department in Myanmar.

Training In line with our objectives, we conduct the capacitybuilding trainings as a title of "Internship Program on Capacity
Building for Water and Environment NGOs" to the young
graduates. We assist and support the technological and
ecological development of the local people. E.g. exploiting theMyanmar Traditional Ceramic Techniques in Twantay T/S.
Recently we have established the micro-credit scheme for 80
women in Aoo-Bo- village in Twantay as post-Nargis
rehabilitation activity. We conducted one day training to the
women who participated in the micro-credit scheme.

Advocacy
WRTC has been traditionally organized national and
international seminars and conferences. In 2008 we have
done two seminars so far. We gave logistic and technical
support to AIT- MES seminar series, which aims to promote
the ability of Young Myanmar Engineer and to develop the
area especially Cyclone affected area in Flood issues.

Consultancy and Institutional Building
Apart from the previous work, we have a plan to publish atranslated article entitled "Impact of Research on Policy and
Practice" in Burmese in the up coming issue of "Aung Pin Lae
Magazine". Aung Pin Lae is a socio-environmental Magazine.
WRTC provided technical and financial support for theestablishment of this magazine as well as partial financial
support for the first three issues. WRTC is the member of the
advisory board of Aung Pin Lae magazine.

Awards
WRTC gives an annual award to outstanding researcherand/or young researcher who needs financial support. The
maximum amount of such award is 100,000 Kyats (one Lahk
Kyats). This year "WRTC Young Researcher Award 2009"
winner is Daw Wint Wint Htun.
WRTC also plans to give Best Article of the Year Award" to
the authors who published their articles in Aung Pin Lae
environmental magazine. The first winner will be announcedon up coming Sar-So-Daw day in 2009.

Cooperation with relevant ministries and universities in Myanmar
Collaboration with regional Institution like Asian Institute of
Technology (AIT) and professional association such as Myanmar
Engineering Society (MES), Myanmar Ceramic Society (MCS) and
Myanmar Geoscience Society.
WRTC offers Coordination Office to begin such efforts as soon aspossible.
