Westinghouse, ClydeUnion in joint marketing deal

Caterpillar and Ariel form pressure pumping JV

Westinghouse Electric Co and

ClydeUnion Pumps have signed a

teaming agreement to jointly market

the ClydeUnion Pumps Turbine

Water Lubricated (CUP-TWL) pump

to nuclear power plants worldwide.

“This teaming agreement provides

Westinghouse global nuclear BWR

(boiling water reactor) and PWR

(pressurised water reactor)

customers with more options for

products and services that will

enhance safety across the global

fl eet,” said Doug Holderbaum,

director of Westinghouse Post-

Fukushima Safety Products and

Services. “The CUP-TWL extended

coping package is part of Westing-

house’s larger eff ort to provide its

global customers with products

and services that enhance safety

while addressing lessons learned

from Fukushima.”

The agreement covers new and

operating nuclear power plants

worldwide. Originally developed

for maritime applications, the

CUP-TWL pump has undergone

full nuclear quality assurance.

Caterpillar Inc and Ariel Corp have

set up a joint venture that will

provide well service pressure

pumping products for the global

oil & gas industry.

Black Horse LLC, the new joint

venture, has also acquired the

Houston, Texas-based pump

manufacturer ProSource.

Executives from Caterpillar’s

Marine and Petroleum Power

Division and from Ariel will

jointly head up Black Horse LLC,

which will be headquartered in

Houston.

Frac pumps sold through the new

venture will be branded and sold

under the Cat name and distrib-

uted through the Cat dealer

network.

Grundfos invests in India

Xylem extends dewatering services across Europe

Grundfos is planning to double its

production capacity in India by

setting up an additional

manufacturing unit in Chennai.

The Danish pump company

will invest Rs2.3 billion over

the next fi ve years, creating

1000 jobs.

Grundfos India is looking to

increase its turnover from Rs3.18

billion in 2012 to Rs10 billion by

2017. The company has 55 distrib-

utors and over 140 dealers across

India and is currently expanding

this network to boost sales.

Xylem Inc is planning to expand

its dewatering pump rental

off ering across Europe in response

to growing demand within the

construction, municipal, mining

and industrial sectors.

The water technology company,

which includes the Flygt and

Godwin brands, will increase its

bank of surface mounted and

submersible pumps through an

aggressive rental branch rollout

over the next few years including

refurbishment of existing premises,

new locations and selective acqui-

sitions. The company has a current

rental bank of 20 000 products

worldwide.

Xylem says that it is experiencing

a growing demand within the

construction industry for complete,

turnkey dewatering solutions as

well as for dewatering pumps to

rent.

Colfax wins Allweiler order from Saudi ArabiaColfax Fluid Handling is to provide

21 Allweiler screw pumps for a gas

turbine power plant in Yanbu,

Saudi Arabia.

The order, valued at more than

€300 000, includes 21 pumps to

move heavy, Arabian light crude

and lubricating oil.

The pumps will operate on three

gas turbine generators at the

Yanbu II power plant. Each gener-

ator will provide 230 MW of

output, forming part of a seawater

desalination plant.

Spanish solar power plant selects KSB pumpsKSB Group has delivered a number

of pumps for a new 50 MW solar

thermal power plant located near

Seville in Spain.

The pump units included seven

process pumps for pumping thermal

oil at a drive rating of up to 315 kW,

and four canned motor pumps with

a maximum 45 kW rating.

All the units were built to API

standards and specifi cations. The

pumps perform diff erent tasks at

the concentrated solar power

plant, which will be commissioned

at the end of 2013. They provide

support for the daily start-up of

the solar fi eld, control the level of

the thermal oil at temperatures up

to 400°C, protect the solar fi eld

from freezing and overheating,

and are also used in the oil

cleaning process.
