Science Explorers - Take a Dive
Dive into the world of marine biology and oceanography! In our half day camp you'll dissect a real shark, participate in a fi sherman's challenge, examine the anatomy of a fi sh and learn the ancient technique of gyotaku or "fi sh rubbing," learn to survive at sea with a homemade solar still, create a kelp forest and make your own submarine. Stay for the full day camp and come face to face with some unique sea creatures! You'll complete a squid dissection, bring to life genuine Triassic Triops, conduct a whale adaptations lab, and examine many weird wonders that live under the sea!

Stranded on an abandoned island - surrounded by darkness, cold temperatures, wild animals and other dangers. Students in this camp will join tribes and compete in various engineering-related challenges to survive and eventually escape the harsh island conditions. Electrical, aerospace and marine engineering are all introduced in this camp. Students will utilize the Engineering Design Process to create their very own fl ashlights, parachutes, powerboats and more! Join us in the Engineering for Kids Survivor challenge!

Reservations may be made beginning January 1st (Township Residents) & April 1st (Non-Residents). Proof of insurance may be required depending upon the nature of the use. Kids’ Castle Group DaysGroup days are limited to Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm May 1st through November 1st. Exceptions are not made to this policy.

Women's Assault Prevention Seminar
It is estimated that 33% of women will be assaulted by age 24, and the majority of them will know and trust their attacker. Women's assault prevention is a lot more than just learning how to hit or kick. It's about learning how predators think and how to identify dangerous situations before they become violent. This seminar will include a power point discussing the dangers young women face, as well as hands on self-defense training taught by retired and decorated police offi cer, and nationally recognized assault prevention expert, Mike Austin.

Tennis with BCTAThese fi ve-week programs implement the games-based approach to teaching tennis and the QuickStart format - the fast and fun ways to learn tennis and/or improve your game. Programs are available for ages 4 to 94+ and from beginner to intermediate players. The atmosphere is informal, with emphasis on fun, fi tness, and play. Free loaner racquets are available. Taste of Fencing
Fencing is fun, safe, exciting and a great form of exercise! Fencing sharpens your agility, balance, confi dence, refl exes and even your mind! Our "Taste of Fencing" courses are just that — they allow you to try the sport of fencing without making a long term commitment or costly investment.
The Taste of Fencing Course consists of three, one hour sessions, once a week. Additional classes are available once the session is completed. Registration fee includes the use of required equipment and participants will receive their own fencing glove to keep. Two locations to choose from.

Players 3 to 4 years old learn the basics of throwing, catching, fi elding, batting, and base running, and then apply what they have learned in fun, non-competitive games. Sessions are one hour long, one day per week, and include all instruction and game play in one outing. Each player receives MLB style shirt, baseball cap and award!
Summer Safety Checklist
Sun Safety
• Limit your child’s sun exposure between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm.
• Get some sun-protective clothing.
• Your child’s summer wardrobe should include a hat, sunglasses with ultraviolet ray protection.
• Replace any sweat-saturated items with dry clothing.
• Apply sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15.
• Apply sunscreen on both sunny and cloudy days.
• Apply sunscreen every two hours, or after swimming or sweating.
Heat Safety
• Reduce the intensity of activities 15 minutes or longer in length.
• Make sure children are well-hydrated.
• Limit outdoor physical activity in a place with a warmer climate.
• Allow the child’s body to acclimate to the change in temperature.
Pool Safety
• Never leave a child unsupervised in or near a pool or spa.
• Teach children 4 and older to swim.
• Avoid infl atable swimming aids such as "fl oaties".
• If possible, install a 4ft tall or higher fence around all sides of the pool.
• Do not use a pool or spa if there are broken or missing drain covers.
• Do not dive in less than nine feet of water.
• Feet-fi rst entry.
• Be aware of sandbars.
Protect against Bugs
• Use insect repellents to guard against ticks.
• Wear long sleeve shirts and long pants when going outside.
• Never leave stagnant pools of water around the house.
• Avoid using scented soaps or perfumes on your child.

This martial arts program will feature a traditional Martial Arts curriculum that has been established for over 45 years. With an emphasis on childhood development and goal setting, this program promotes "Discipline of Mind and Body" and the development of a positive winning attitude!
The program is directed by the founder of the Kokoro Kai Association, Mr. Jonathan Exaros, whose Headquarters Academy is based out of Horsham, PA. Jonathan has been studying the martial arts since the early 1970's and has been operating the Academy for the past 25 years. The Academy is very pleased to be partnering with Doylestown Parks and Recreation, and is enthusiastic about bringing their unique and proven methods of teaching children to the Doylestown community.

Waiting Lists: Waiting lists do not guarantee you a spot. You will be contacted only if a space becomes available. If notifi ed, you will have up to 24 hours to accept the space (with payment) or the opening will be offered to the next person on the list.
Registration Confi rmations: Confi rmations are not issued unless a self-addressed stamped envelope is included with registration materials.
Register Early: Waiting may result in a program being canceled due to low enrollment.
Insuffi cient Funds: A $35 charge will be charged back to the participant for each returned check. Failure to correct this error in a timely fashion (cash only) will result in removal from the program.
Notice to Participants: Participants must recognize that all programs involve some level of risk, by registering for a program; participant assumes any & all risk. Every effort is made to ensure the safety of participants and to provide high-quality recreational activities, facilities and parks. In the event of a serious accident or illness, our policy is to: Contact 911, when necessary, transport to the hospital and contact the parent/guardian or emergency contact as quickly as possible.
Customer Service: We strive to provide excellence in the area of customer service and satisfaction. Our policies and guidelines have been carefully established to assist us in providing fair and equitable treatment to all.
Insurance: Individual accident/medical insurance for participants is not provided by Doylestown Township.
Code of Conduct: Participants and/or spectators are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times while attending any program or event sponsored by Doylestown Township.
Kids’ Castle Group Days: Group days have been established for ALL groups regardless of size. Groups that have not pre-registered and/or , checked in will be asked to leave the playground. Exceptions will not be made to this policy.
Groups Days: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm; May 1st- November 1st (no exceptions).
All groups must be pre-registered.
Playground is designed for ages 2-12 only.
Fee: $4/child fee; Payment is due upon arrival.
An 8:1 child/chaperone ratio is required.
Group Day registration does not include pavilion.
Facility Use Applications: Groups wishing to utilize a park or park amenity must complete a Facility Use Application or Special Event Application and obtain a permit. These forms can be downloaded at www.doylestownrec.com.
Pavilion Rentals: Two picnic shelters are available for rental in Central Park. Facility Use Application, insurance, rental fees and security deposit are required. Fees vary depending on group size and residency. Reservations may be made beginning January 1st (Township Residents) & April 1st (Non-Residents). Please call for times and availability.
Refund Policy: Refund requests will be handled according to the following guidelines.
Full refunds are issued for programs that are canceled by the Township.
Within two-weeks prior to the start of any program a $20 administrative fee will be deducted for all refund requests.
No refunds will be issued within two weeks of any program. In the event of medical emergency, written verifi cation from a physician will be required. Approved requests will be prorated to refl ect attendance, $20 administrative fee and issued as an account credit only.
Trip programs: Refunds are issued only if the seat can be re-sold or if the trip is canceled.
Pavilions: No refunds will be issued within two weeks of pavilion rental. In the event of inclement weather, notifi cation of non-use due must be made 24-hrs. prior to the scheduled use day - No later than Friday at 4pm if the rental is scheduled for a weekend.
Exceptions may exist for programs that run cooperatively with outside providers and may include non-refundable fees.
There are no cash refunds. All approved refunds will be issued via township check or account credit.
