Page 1: DPS Codes and Conventions

I used codes and conventions of typical magazine double page spreads in order to draw and attract my target audience and for my audience to be able to recognise what page they were looking at.

My main title is quite a funky text which on most magazines I looked at it was a clear bold text. I think I have challenged this convention as people could either really like what I have done or think it’s confusing and not bold enough but for what my theme was Indie where things are I believe in the Indie genre challeneging the normal and making it unique which is what I have tried to do.

My colour scheme was red, white, black grey and blue which you can also pick out on my image this fits

with the rest of my magazine.

Typical conventions of a DPS were what I tried to base mine around. I

used a main title, by line and introduction to my interview.

Most of the DPS I looked at had text and pictures separate but

because I really liked the image of the band I took I wanted to use it

and not cover it up so I decided to challenge this DPS convention by

placing my text over the image and used boxes behind the text

with the opacity turned down so you could see though it but it was

enough to make the interview text stand out.

This is a typical DPS where the image is to one side and the text is to another. The title is bold but

there is a similarity in conventions which is that both our interviews start with a larger first letter.
