Persistent cold temperaturesand strong circumpolarwinds helped the formationof a large and deep Antarctic
ozone hole that should persist into No-vember, scientists have said. The an-nual Antarctic ozone hole reached itspeak size at about 24.8 million squarekilometres, roughly three times thearea of the continental US, on Sep-tember 20, according to the US NationalOceanic and Atmospheric Adminis-tration (NOAA) and NASA scientists.

amount of ozone in 33 years of balloon-borne instru-mental measurements
2 Ongoing declines in levels of ozone-depletingchemicals controlled by the Montreal Protocolprevented the hole from being as large as it
would have been under the same weather conditionsdecades ago
3 The Antarctic ozone hole forms duringthe Southern Hemisphere's latewinter as the returning sun's
rays start ozone-depleting reactions
Cold winter temperatures persisting into the springenable the ozone-depletion process, which is whythe "hole" forms over Antarctica
4 These reactions involve chemically-activeforms of chlorine and bromine derived fromman-made compounds
In the stratosphere, roughly seven to 25 milesabove Earth's surface, the ozone layer acts like
sunscreen, shielding the planet from ultraviolet radia-tion that can cause skin cancer and cataracts, suppressimmune systems and damage plants and sensitive plankton at thebase of the global food chain. By contrast, ozone that forms closerto the Earth's surface through photochemical reactions betweenthe sun and pollution from vehicle emissions and other sources, forms harmful smog in the lower atmosphere

Understanding the importanceof coexisting with the flora andfauna of the earth is very im-
portant. To imbibe the quality oflooking at the animals as part of thiswonderful earth, the students frompre-primary wing of Pallavi ModelSchool, Boduppal, were taken on avirtual tour to the zoo. The zoo being one of themost delightful places that
children love to visit, the virtual touralso served the purpose to a large ex-tent.
It is a place not only for enter-tainment but has an educational val-ue added to it. The children could re-late the knowledge they acquired inthe class with their virtual experi-ence. The gleeful expressions on thefaces of the children reflected theirexperience.

They made a'THANK YOU' card forthe bankers by usingCoin Tracing method. They had to draw anyone item which theywanted during the lock-down which their par-ents could buy them thesame only because thebankers were ONDUTY.
The childrentraced their cravingsusing coins and madelollipops, candies, ice-cream scoops, grapesand toy engine.
They also learnt asong dedicated to the
bankers, "I am a Banker, counting money, Howmany coins, do you need?I'll give you 4, I'll give you5 or may be more, Bank-ing is great fun, countwith me."
The children nowknow that a banker is aperson who keeps theirparent's money safe andgives them the samewhen they need it. Thechildren thoroughly en-joyed the activity as theywere all curious to knowand see how a coin underthe paper could be tracedon the paper without ac-tually touching the coin.It was a fun filled magicactivity for the children.

Keeping the above thought inmind, the students of classIII from Ganges Valley School
conducted their student-led con-ference (SLC) on the title 'Redefin-ing the Superheroes'.
The students widened theknowledge of the audience by in-troducing them to various super-heroes of ancient times, like Srini-vasa Ramanujan and Bharati Kr-ishna, who is the founder of VedicMath and has rediscovered the 16sutra or formulae for easy calcula-tions.
The participants' effective andengaging presentations on the vir-tual platform were in differentforms, drama, lego blocks, hands-
on activities and storytelling thatdemonstrated their vocabularyskills. They presented their ideaswith clarity and utmost confidence. This conference was a moment ofpride for the parents and teacherswho got to see the children apply-ing the concepts that they havelearnt in their online classes in aninteractive and fun way. Their con-fidence, creativity and the urge tolearn and apply knowledge werecommendable and highly appreci-ated.
This time students took theirSLC as a platform to salute the doc-tors, nurses, farmers and police-men of India for serving us self-lessly during this pandemic time.
No doubt, students are no lessthan superheroes as they are learn-ing to adapt and acquire knowledgemaking use of the virtual classesto the fullest.

It’s a mixed bag. As I said at the toss, youcome to games to try and get the result
your way. We are happy that we’ve qualified.Top two would’ve been very really nice. But Ithink we’ve played good enough cricket to earna qualification spot.Virat Kohli, RCB captain

For the sixth year running, Kings XI Punjab failed to qualify for the IPL 2020 playoffs after defeat against CSK onSunday. The team was hit hard with poor performances from overseas stars and all-rounders. The team management
is expected to release a number of players going into IPL 2021
The biggestflop of IPL2020?GlennMaxwell strug-gled badly andonly managed 108runs off 106 balls hefaced. Surprisingly, thebig-hitting batsman failedto hit even one six, a statthat has left many sur-prised. The team manage-ment backed him to thehilt and only dropped himafter 13 matches. Withthe ball, he scalped 3wickets in 21 overs. KXIPhad spent `10.75 crore onthe all-rounder and theowners would surelywant to release himnow that he hasfailed once again.Maxwell is unlikely togarner such a bigamount in the auc-tion if released.
GLENN MAXWELLHe did win a game
for KXIP but thereweren’t many not-able performancesfrom him. The right-arm pacer scalpednine wickets in asmany matches, bow-ling at an economyrate of 9.65. With
the bat, Jordanscored 29 runs off 31
balls. Lack of a properall-rounder
was one ofthe bigg-est rea-sons behi-
nd KXIP’sfailure and the teammanagement is expect-ed to move on fromhim. James Neeshammight be retained ashe had joined KXIP athis base price of `50lakh while Jordan waspaid `3 crore.
His salutes got moreattention than hisperformance. Only sixsalutes in 6 matches.Hoping that Cottrellwill share the new ballwith Mohammed Shami, the team managementspent `8.5 crore onhim. The Jamaicanturned out to be a bigupset and leaked runsat 8.80.

Simran could not live upto expectations in twomatches and onlyscored 15 runs. Duringthe league stage gameagainst Kolkata KnightRiders, KXIP were onthe brink of a win whenSimran was sent aheadof Maxwell. The movedidn’t work. KXIP lostby one run. He wasdropped from the play-ing XI there after.
SIMRANSINGH
Mujeeb played onlytwo matches. He wentwicketless in both. Hehas come down thepecking order andisn’t the frontline spi-nner now. Given his `4 crore price, KXIPmay release him. Orthey could bid for himat a lower price aswell. Mujeeb, with RAshwin, had scalped14 wickets in 2018.
