Use MS PowerPoint

• Use Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 or higher to develop your PP.

• Add transitions and graphics to your slide show.

• Be creative with your use of charts and graphs. Look at all of the options within the Format Tab for graphics. This is available after you import a graphic into the PP.

• Use SMARTART to enhance your PP.

Select a Professional PowerPoint Design

• Select a background/design for your PP that is professional.

• The background should be consistent throughout the PP.

Select a Type that is Easy to Read

• Use 24-30 pts. to increase visibility for all bullets. The size should be the same on all slides.

• The color of the type should be easy to read and appropriate for the background.

• Selecting a consistent design will provide the color that is appropriate for your PowerPoint.

Selecting and Placing Graphics

• Do not allow pictures, graphs, or charts to cover the type.

• Make sure that the slide has a margin around the outer edge.

• Note the margins on this slide. Your graphics should be placed within the text box.

PowerPoint Bullets

• Use short phrases of five or six words.

• The PP should not contain everything you plan to say.

• Keep the bullets simple, short, and clear.

• Do not use sentences on a PP that will be used in a presentation unless it is a quote.

• Use no more than five or six bullets per slide.

• You will provide most of the information during your presentation using the PP as a guide and visual for your audience.

You are Ready to Practice

• Select a quite place with NO external noise.

• Stand at a podium.

• Run through your presentation several times to avoid reading anything.

• Use your bullets to keep you on track.

• Avoid running rabbits.

• BE PREPARED.

• Now, it is time for you to shine.
