Dr. Paul Underberg, the grandson of the Underberg founder, was a cosmopolitan and passionate explo-rer of foreign cultures.

He was particularly fascinated by the healing power of herbs and plants from the Amazon region.In 1933, he settled down in Rio de Janeiro and began with the production of „Underberg do Brasil“. The unique Brazilian herbal quickly became the preferred drink of the society in Rio.

Today, he is introduced as “Brasilberg“ into the international restaurant and bar scene.

Refreshing in taste, mysterious in appear-ance. The two-layered drink „Rio Negro®“ is named after the “Black River”, which merges with the bright stream of the Solimões to create the Amazon.

Preparation:Put 2-3 ice cubes into a highball glass, fill it up half-way with tonic. Slowly pour 4 cl Brasilberg in the glass so that Brasilberg and tonic don’t mix. Serve with a lime, herbs and a stirrer. Stir it shortly before drinking!
