A highly respected and accomplished individual, Marka’s Chairman, His Excellency Jamal Al Hai, is the Executive Senior Vice President of Dubai International Airport, where he has played an integral role in the rapid growth of one of the fastest growing airports in the world and recognized as the aviation hub of the Middle East. Mr. Al Hai also holds the position of Chairman at ExecuJet Middle East and Al Hai Motors and is an elected member of the Federal National Council in the UAE Parliament for Dubai.

Mr. Almheiri, the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Marka, is also the founder and CEO of Evolvence Group and serves on the Board of Directors of Arady Real Estate and Amzaan. His experience and business acumen are the driving force behind Marka’s innovative vision and business strategy. His expertise is in strategic direction, business development, and investor and regulatory relations and has a proven track record of establishing retail operations for reputed international brands such as Real Madrid Café in the region.

Mr. Hamad Al Shamsi, Director of Marka, also holds the position of CEO at Private Investment Company, as well as positions on the Board of Directors of several leading government and private institutions engaged in commercial, financial, aviation and service- based activities in the region. His expertise encompasses investments and large-scale real estate development projects which elevate Marka’s investment and development strategies.

Mr. Abubaker Al Khoori is the Chairman of Aldar Properties PJSC and was previously the Managing Director of Sorouh Real Estate PJSC. Mr. Al Khoori has more than 13 years of experience in the fields of finance and investment in private equity funds and direct deals in Western Europe, Eastern Europe and Asia. Prior to joining Sorouh, Mr. Al Khoori worked as the Assistant Director of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), where his role was to oversee the Private Equities Portfolio of ADIA. He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School’s Executive Business Program and a certified CFA.

As a Board Director of Marka, Mr. Mohammad AlQahtany brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise on developing and managing publicly listed companies in the region. He is also the Managing Director of Ahwab Capital (a DIFC regulated company) as well as Chairman and Managing Director of First Equilease (listed on the Kuwaiti Stock Exchange). He has previously held the position of Deputy General Manager of Industrial and Financial Investments Company (IFIC on the Kuwaiti Stock Exchange) where he launched the first internationally recognized index fund in Kuwait (IFIC Dow Jones Kuwait Index Fund).

Mr. Jamal Abdulla Ali Al Shaafar is a Board Director of Marka as well as CEO Al Masaood Group, a 50 year old establishment which he has led to become one of the largest trading and commercial organizations in the region. He is also a partner at 365 Marine Services Center Co, and Emirates Mountain Valley Water, the US based premium bottled water company that has won international awards for “Best Water in the World”. His experience in driving companies to international success is a valuable asset for Marka.

Fatima HusseinChief Legal Officer

Nick Peel is a retail veteran whose 25-year career has spanned multi channel retail, operations, property, commercial, digital and branding. His experience includes blue chip companies such as Arsenal Football Club, WM Morrisons, and Halfords. Prior to joining Marka, he was the Operations Director and Country Manager for McArthur Glen in the UK and has worked with leading brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Hugo Boss, Calvin Klein and Burberry. In addition to serving as Chief Executive of Marka, Nick is the Chairman of Icons.

Wassim Ghalayini has more than 25 years of finance and audit expertise. As CFO of Marka, Wassim is has oversight responsibility for finance, IT, logistics and procurement. His experience includes leading regional companies including Al Ghurair Group and Masafi Mineral Water Company. In addition, he has extensive operational experience supporting expanding businesses gained as Director of Finance of American University of Sharjah and the University of Sharjah; during his tenure university grew from 700 to more than 10,000 students.

With a legal career spanning 13 years, Fatima Hussein has extensive experience working in the legal sector within the UAE. Her expertise lies in on legal issues pertaining to corporate governance, franchising, joint ventures and shareholding agreements with a special focus on the retail and F&B sector. Prior to joining Marka, she served as Vice Chairman and General Legal Counsel at Al Salman Advocates & Legal Consultants.

Hesham AlmekkawiManaging Director of Marka Hospitality

Hesham is an accomplished senior hospitality executive and certified life coach with over a decade’s experience in hospitality management. As a frequent guest speaker on strategic leadership at top educational institutions across the world, Hesham holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and an EMBA in Service Strategy and Operations Management from the Zicklin School of Business in New York. He has directed some of the world’s best restaurant chains throughout the US and the Middle East, and has worked with Kuwait Food Company and YUM! Brands.

Halyna KitorChief Human Resources Officer

As Chief Human Resources Officer for Marka, Halyna Kitor has oversight and responsibility for an overall HR function. She has more than 10 years of regional experience gained at Al Tayer Group in Dubai, where she worked as the General Manager – Human Resources for Al Tayer Retail division. Prior to that, she worked for Harrods Ltd in London, also in Human Resources. She holds an MBA and a Chartered Membership at CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development).

MANAGEMENT TEAMShaheen Domingo Managing Director of Marka Sports, Fashion and Beauty

Shaheen Domingo is responsible for driving Marka’s growth strategy in the Sports, Fashion and Beauty segments. With more than twenty years of experience, he has served in various senior managements roles across Retail Operations, Merchandise, Brand and Sales Management. This has encompassed the setting up of numerous new operations, growth in market share, people development and a strong focus on profitability. His previous experience includes leading fashion retailers in Southern Africa, namely Edgars, TFG, Woolworths and Al Tayer in the Middle East.

MANAGEMENT TEAMRoy Rene Haddad Supply Chain Director of Marka

Roy Haddad is an experienced senior manager with a 29-year track record in supply chain and logistics. His experience includes multinational conglomerates Airlink International, Danzas-DHL Air Ocean, NK Express, American Express and Continental Airlines. Prior to joining Marka, Roy was the Head of Logistics at Retailcorp, where he was instrumental in the coordination and management of the company’s overseas branches. Roy holds BA Degrees in Management and Marketing and Computer Science from Columbus State University, USA.

Darrell Edon Finance Director

Darrell Edon has over 19 years of financial experience, eight of which he acquired working in retail. Prior to joining Marka, Darrell was Business Planning Director for Fawaz Alhokair, based in Saudi Arabia. A results driven, CIMA certified financial director, his experience includes brand acquisitions, mergers and acquisitions, P&L and cash flow projections, budgeting and forecasting, strategic reporting development and operational management with a proven track record of developing and leading successful teams.

Lucy ManghamHead of Buying and Merchandising, Sports, Fashion and Beauty

With over 17 years of buying and merchandising experience, Lucy has extensive expertise in manufacturing, sourcing, product development, merchandise planning and buying. She was previously employed with Majid Al Futtaim and Al Tayer Retail, and her client portfolio includes prestigious brands such as Boots UK Limited, Marks & Spencer, Gap, Coach, Armani Exchange, Diane von Furstenberg, Sandro and Thomas Pink. Lucy holds Honours degrees from Manchester Metropolitan University and the Université de Limoges, and qualifications in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.

Fadi AdibHead of Government Affairs & Investor Relations

With over 10 years of experience in the UAE retail industry and with extensive knowledge of investor relations and government regulations, Fadi Adib played a fundamental role securing the funding and approvals required to establish Marka as a Public Joint Stock Company (PJSC). His past experiences involve business management, HR and legal at Ginza and Evolvence Capital.

Morelli’s ice-cream is made using a 100-year

old secret family recipe and using only the

The Morelli family has been making their

famous ice cream for five generations to a

trademark recipe which was introduced into

the UK in 1907, when Giuseppe Morelli, after

emigrating from Italy, started selling it from

the back of his bicycle.

The original Morelli’s Gelato ice cream parlour

opened in 1932 on the seafront in Broadstairs,

Kent, and this parlour still proudly serves loyal

customers today. From this beginning the

business continued to grow throughout South

East England and eventually nationwide. In

2003, Marino Morelli, great grandson of the

founder, opened a Morelli’s concession at

Harrods in London. Today, this luxury brand

is present in premium destinations across

Reem al Bawadi currently owns and

operates five locations in the UAE. It also

has two franchised outlets in UAE, two

outlets in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) and one in

Bahrain. Marka acquired Reem al Bawadi

in April 2015 and plans to expand the brand

across the GCC. Plans include opening new

locations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as well

Our coffee is our trademark and our unique

identity card. Our signature house blend is 100%

Arabica originating from Brazil, Colombia and

using the Venetian method, roasting the beans
