walking a path through campus to observe and analysis site conditions. each poster is drawn in pen and edited in adobe illustrator. specific qualities of site include population to the left, vegitation to the right and shading under

Page 7: Dru Campbell Portfolio

site conditions include path elevation above, night shading directly to the right and noise dispersion to the full right

hand drawing in graphite excersizes my control and craft in both large projects and smaller representational images.

drawing on site has helped me better understand space and the relationship between complex forms in perspective

Page 9: Dru Campbell Portfolio

each drawing is part of a set of movements through the interior of the design architecture, art and planning addition building

precision is a key skill in architecture and so is the ability to represent a made space in perspective.

tectonic analysis drawings of built spaces. the precedent for these hand drawings is the omni netherland hotel resteraunt showroom

to emphesize the framing system and massive mold surrounding the interior. spatial profiling using lines and planes to reveal building tendencies

Page 11: Dru Campbell Portfolio

certain masses reveal active spaces and distinguish functions between areas of use and areas of void and their relationship with eachother

color highlights tectonic components of mass while lines and forms represent frames and planes throughout

designed and constructed a physical mass to represent in three dimensions tectonic elements of the drawings

working as a group, myself and sixteen of my student peers were prompted to create a wooden emblematic construct that fits its space contextually. seperated into function related teams we each played a role in the design and/or construction of the final project. As a member of the design team it was my job to conseptualize the structure’s asthetics and document how it would be built through dimension drawings

Page 13: Dru Campbell Portfolio

another group project, six of us were prompted to design and construct an eight-foot tall wooden sculpture that represents how a body reacts in space. each seperate subgroup was made to cooperate in design to incorporate each other’s perameters and concepts

drawing in autocad is an important skill set for a learning architect. Using lineweight to distinguish distances and dimensions are vital to any good technical drawing. i am constantly improving my autocad skills with every new set

rhino 3d is a program seeing more and more use in architecture and design. this project was an introductory to rhino and its modeling program and drawing generation. rhino modeling is easy as it uses simple volumes to create custom or pre-made designs

rhino 3d is great for form creation. it is extremely user friendly and is an excellent tool in shape creation. I use rhino often to layout drawings to submit to lazer printing

using frank gehry’s vontz center for molecular studies as a precident I designed a poster focusing on the relationship between form and implied projected lines jutting up from its surface. floor plans, perspective drawings, interior and exterior images were all aligned in adobe photoshop to create this poster

i designed this robot named fwap to use pnumatics to power a four bar link that increases its torsional power. it uses its metal arm to lift and throw rival battle bots in the arena. the design and construction of this robot took over three months

Page 21: Dru Campbell Portfolio

this robot named speed racer was designed by myself and a friend as the only four wheeled robot in the state-wide competition within the fifteen pounds wieght class. we designed, documented, constructed and wired the battle bot in four months for competition. our team fought our way to the semi-finals and won best documentation overall

Thank You for Reading

I really appreciate you looking through my portfolio and hope it elaborates what I’m all about as a designer, as a person and possibly as a future employee.
