Fire Hazard

If the dryer is not properly installed and vented, it will not becovered under the warranty. Proper venting of your dryer isimportant for satisfactory drying results. See the InstallationInstructions for more detail.

NOTE: Service calls caused by improper venting will be paid forby the customer, whether it was a paid installation or self-installed.

f. Do not use plastic vent or metal foil vent. Use 4" (10.2 cm)metal or flexible metal vent. Do not kink or crush flexiblemetal vent. It must be completely extended to allow adequateexhaust air to flow. Check vent after installation. Refer to theInstallation Instructions for proper length requirements ofvent.

Use clamps to seal all joints. Do not use duct tape, screws orother fastening devices that extend into the interior of thevent to secure vent.

Clean exhaust vent periodically, depending on use, but atleast every 2 years, or when installing your dryer in a newlocation. When cleaning is complete, be sure to follow theInstallation Instructions supplied with your dryer for finalproduct check.

DRYER USE

Explosion Hazard

Keep flammable materials and vapors, such asgasoline, away from dryer.

Do not dry anything that has ever had anythingflammable on it (even after washing).

Failure to follow these instructions can result in death,explosion, or fire.

This booklet covers several different models. Your dryer may nothave all of the cycles and features described.

Before using your dryer, wipe the dryer drum with a damp cloth toremove dust from storing and shipping.

f. Clean the lint screen before each load. See "Cleaning the LintScreen."

2. Load clothes loosely into the dryer and close the door. Do notpack the dryer. Allow space for clothes to tumble freely.

3. Turn the Cycle Selector Control to the recommended cyclefor the type of load being dried. Use the Normal Dry cycle,indicated by an asterisk (*), to dry most heavy to mediumweight fabrics.

4. Set the Temperature control to the recommended setting forthe type of fabric being dried. See "Dryer Cycle Descriptions"(separate sheet) for temperature suggestions.

5. (OPTIONAL) Your dryer may have a WRINKLE GUARD _feature selector. When you are unable to remove a load fromthe dryer as soon as it stops, wrinkles can form. This featureperiodically tumbles, rearranges and fluffs the load withoutheat to help avoid wrinkling.

6. (OPTIONAL) If you want the dryer to sound a signal when thecycle is finished, set the END OF CYCLE SIGNAL control toON, or to the volume level you prefer (on some models). Thesignal is helpful when you are drying permanent press,synthetics and other items that should be removed from thedryer as soon as it stops.

7. If desired, add a fabric softener sheet. Follow packageinstructions.

8. Press the PUSH TO START button.

Fire Hazard

No washer can completely remove oil.

Do not dry anything that has ever had any type of oil onit (including cooking oils).

Items containing foam, rubber, or plastic must be driedon a clothesline or by using an Air Cycle.


Stopping and RestartingYou can stop your dryer anytime during a cycle.

To stop your dryer

Open the dryer door or turn the Cycle Selector Control to OFR

NOTE: The Cycle Selector Control should point to an Off areawhen the dryer is not in use.

To restart your dryer1. Close the door.

2. Select a new cycle and temperature (if desired).3. Press the PUSH TO START button.

How Automatic Drying Works

During the Automatic Drying Cycle, the exhaust temperature ofthe dryer determines the drying time and dryness levels. Athermostat signals the Cycle Control Knob when to move intoCool Down. The drying time for an Automatic Drying Cycledepends on load type and load size. When drying a large orheavy load, the Cycle Control Knob may take a long time before itbegins to advance into Cool Down. Automatic Drying Cycle takesthe guesswork out of drying time and enhances fabric care. Theamount of time that is displayed is the estimated time remainingin the cycle.

Usethedryerracktodryitemssuchassweatersandpillows Tousethedryerrack:withouttumbling.Thedrumturns,buttherackdoesnotmove.Ifyourmodeldoesnothaveadryerrack,youmaybeabletopurchaseone.Tofindoutwhetheryourmodelallowsdryerrackusageandtoobtainorderinginformation,pleaserefertothebackpageofthismanualorcontactthedealerfromwhomyoupurchasedyourdryer.NOTE:Youmustremovedryerrackfornormaltumbling.Donotuseautomaticcycleswiththedryerrack.

TUMBLE FREE TM Non-Heated Dryer Rack

Use with 29" (73.7 cm) wide dryers. Air circulates in aconcentrated pattern over and around clothes to allow efficientand uniform drying.

TUMBLE FREE TM Heated Dryer RackUse with 27" (69 cm) wide dryers. Air circulates in a concentratedpattern over, under and through clothes, significantly reducingdrying time.

1. 29" (73.7 cm) Wide DryerSlide rear pegs into the dimples on the back wall of the dryer.Lower the front legs to rest on the dryer opening.

27" (69 cm) Wide DryerDo not remove lint screen. Slide dryer rack over the bottom ofthe dryer door opening. Push down to secure it on the frame.

2. Put wet items on the rack. Leave space between items so aircan reach all surfaces. Do not allow items to hang over theedge of the rack. Close the door.

3. Select cycle and temperature to match the fabrics in yourload. Items containing foam, rubber, or plastic must be driedon a clothesline or by using an air cycle. Refer to the followingtable.

4. Start the dryer. Reset time to complete drying, if needed.

Keep dryer area clear and free from items that would obstruct theflow of combustion and ventilation air.

Every Load Cleaning

Style 1:

1. The lint screen is located on top of the dryer. Pull the lintscreen toward you. Roll lint off the screen with your fingers.Do not rinse or wash screen to remove lint. Wet lint is hard toremove.

2. Push the lint screen firmly back into place.

Style 2:

1. The lint screen is located in the door of the dryer. Pull the lintscreen straight up. Roll lint off the screen with your fingers.Do not rinse or wash screen to remove lint. Wet lint is hard toremove.

L_t c>o_})®nClean the lint screen before each load. A screen blocked by lintcan increase drying time.IMPORTANT:

• Do not run the dryer with the lint screen loose, damaged,blocked, or missing. Doing so can cause overheating anddamage to both the dryer and fabrics.

• If lint falls off the screen into the dryer during removal, checkthe exhaust hood and remove the lint. 2. Push the lint screen firmly back into place.

As Needed Cleaning

1. Roll lint off the screen with your fingers.

2. Wet both sides of lint screen with hot water.

3. Wet a nylon brush with hot water and liquid detergent. Scrublint screen with the brush to remove residue buildup.

4. Rinse screen with hot water.

5. Thoroughly dry lint screen with a clean towel. Replace screenin dryer.

1. Apply a liquid, nonflammable household cleaner to thestained area of the drum and rub with a soft cloth until stain isremoved.

2. Wipe drum thoroughly with a damp cloth.

3. Tumble a load of clean cloths or towels to dry the drum.

NOTE: Garments which contain unstable dyes, such as denimblue jeans or brightly colored cotton items, may discolor thedryer interior. These stains are not harmful to your dryer and willnot stain future loads of clothes. Dry unstable dye items inside-out to prevent dye transfer.

Vacation care

Operate your dryer only when you are at home. If you will be onvacation or not using your dryer for an extended period of time,you should:

1. Unplug dryer or disconnect power.

2. If you have a gas dryer, close shutoff valve in gas supply line.

3. Clean lint screen. See "Cleaning the Lint Screen."

Moving care - Electric Dryers

For power supply cord-connected dryers:1. Unplug the power supply cord.

2. Make sure leveling legs are secure in dryer base.

3. Use masking tape to secure dryer door.

Electrical Shock Hazard

Disconnect power before servicing.

Replace all parts and panels before operating.

Failure to do so can result in death or electrical shock.

For direct-wired dryers:

1. Disconnect power.

2. Disconnect wiring.

Moving care - Gas Dryers

1. Unplug the power supply cord.

2. Close shutoff valve in gas supply line.

3. Disconnect gas supply line pipe and remove fittings attachedto dryer pipe.

4. Cap the open fuel supply line.

Open the dryer door. Locate the light bulb cover on the backwall of the dryer. Remove the screw located in the lower right-hand corner of the cover. Remove the cover.

3. Turn bulb counterclockwise. Replace the bulb with a 10-wattappliance bulb only. Replace the cover and secure with thescrew.

4. Plug in dryer or reconnect power.

TROUBLESHOOTINGFirst try the solutions suggested here and possibly avoid the cost of a service call...

Dryer will not run

• Has a household fuse blown, or has a circuit breakertripped?There may be 2 fuses or circuit breakers for the dryer. Checkto make sure both fuses are intact and tight, or that bothcircuit breakers have not tripped. If the problem continues,call an electrician.

• Is the correct power supply available?Electric dryers require 240 volt power supply. Check with aqualified electrician.

• Was a regular fuse used?Use a time-delay fuse.

• Is the dryer door firmly closed?

• Was the Start button firmly pressed?

• Is a cycle selected?The dryer will not start in the Wrinkle Guard _ position. Movethe dial past OFE

No heat

• Has a household fuse blown, or has a circuit breakertripped?Electric dryers use 2 household fuses or circuit breakers. Thedrum may be turning, but you may not have heat. Replace thefuse or reset the circuit breaker. If the problem continues, callan electrician.

• For gas dryers, is the valve open on the supply line?

Unusual sounds

• Has the dryer had a period of non-use?If the dryer hasn't been used for a while, there may be athumping sound during the first few minutes of operation.

• Is a coin, button, or paper clip caught between the drumand front or rear of the dryer?Check the front and rear edges of the drum for small objects.Clean out pockets before laundering.

• Is it a gas dryer?The gas valve clicking is a normal operating sound.

• Are the four legs installed, and is the dryer level front toback and side to side?The dryer may vibrate if not properly installed. See theInstallation Instructions.

• Is the clothing knotted or balled up?When balled up, the load will bounce, causing the dryer tovibrate. Separate the load items and restart the dryer.

Timer does not noticeably advance

• Is the dryer set to Timed or Air Dry?The timer moves slowly and continuously for the time setting.

• Is the dryer set to Automatic Drying?The timer moves only when the clothing is mostly dry. See"How Automatic Drying Works" in "Dryer Use."

Clothes are not drying satisfactorily, drying times are toolong, or load is too hot

• Is the lint screen clogged with lint?Lint screen should be cleaned before each load.

Fire Hazard

Use a heavy metal vent.

Do not use a plastic vent.

Do not use a metal foil vent.


Is the exhaust vent or outside exhaust hood clogged withlint, restricting air movement?Run the dryer for 5-10 minutes. Hold your hand under theoutside exhaust hood to check air movement. If you do notfeel air movement, clean exhaust system of lint or replaceexhaust vent with heavy metal or flexible metal vent. See theInstallation Instructions.

Are fabric softener sheets blocking the grille?Use only one fabric softener sheet, and use it only once.

Is the exhaust vent the correct length?Check that the exhaust vent is not too long or has too manyturns. Long venting will increase drying times. See theInstallation Instructions.

Is the exhaust vent diameter the correct size?Use 4" (10.2 cm) diameter vent material.

ExplosionHazardKeep flammable materials and vapors, such asgasoline, away from dryer.

• Is the dryer located in a room with temperature below45°F (7°C)?Proper operation of dryer cycles requires temperatures above45°F (7°C).

• Is the dryer located in a closet?Closet doors must have ventilation openings at the top andbottom of the door. The rear of the dryer requires 51/2'' (14 cm)of airspace, and 1" (2.5 cm) is recommended for the sidesand front of the dryer. See the Installation Instructions.

• Has an air dry cycle been selected?Select the right cycle for the types of garments being dried.

• Is the load too large and heavy to dry quickly?Separate the load to tumble freely.

Cycle time too short

• Change the dryness level setting on Automatic Cycles.Increasing or decreasing the dryness level will change theamount of drying time in a cycle.

Lint on load

• Is the lint screen clogged?Lint screen should be cleaned before each load.

Stains on load or drum

• Was dryer fabric softener properly used?Add dryer fabric softener sheets at the beginning of the cycle.Fabric softener sheets added to a partially dried load canstain your garments.

Drum stains are caused by dyes in clothing (usually bluejeans). This will not transfer to other clothing.

Loads are wrinkled

• Was the load removed from dryer at the end of the cycle?

• Was the dryer overloaded?Dry smaller loads that can tumble freely.

Odors

• Have you recently been painting, staining or varnishing inthe area where your dryer is located?If so, ventilate the area. When the odors or fumes are gonefrom the area, rewash and dry the clothing.

• Is the electric dryer being used for the first time?The new electric heating element may have an odor. The odorwill be gone after the first cycle.

USO DE LA SECADORA

Peligro de Explosi6n

Mantenga los rnateriales y vapores inflarnabies, talescomo la gasolina, alejados de la secadora.

Este folleto cubre varios modelos diferentes. Es posible que susecadora no tenga todos los ciclos y las caracter[sticasdescritos.

Antes de usar su secadora, limpie el interior del tambor con unpaso hQmedo para quitar residuos de polvo que se acumularondurante el almacenaje y transporte.

1. Limpie el filtro de pelusa antes de cada carga. Vea "Limpiezadel filtro de pelusa".

2. Coloque la ropa en la secadora de modo suelto y cierre lapuerta. No Ilene en exceso la secadora. Deje suficienteespacio para que la ropa rote con libertad.

3. Gire el control del selector de ciclos al ciclo recomendadopara el tipo de carga que se esta secando. Use un ciclonormal, indicado por un asterisco (*) para secar la mayor[a delas telas de peso pesado a mediano.

4. Fije el control de temperatura al ajuste recomendado para eltipo de tela que se esta secando. Vea "Descripciones de losciclos de la secadora" (en una hoja separada) para vet lassugerencias de temperatura.

5. (OPCIONAL) Es posible que su secadora tenga un selectorde la caracteristica del protector antiarrugas WRINKLEGUARD ®.Cuando no pueda quitar una carga de la secadoratan pronto termine el ciclo, la ropa podra arrugarse. Estacaracteristica rota peri6dicamente, acomoda y sacude laropa sin calor para evitar que se arrugue.

6. Cbmo funciona el secado automatico

Durante el Ciclo de secado automatico (Automatic Drying Cycle),la temperatura de salida de la secadora determina el tiempo y losniveles de secado. Un termostato indica a la perilla de control deciclos cuando es tiempo de pasar al enfriamiento (Cool Down). Eltiempo de secado para un ciclo de secado automatico dependedel tipo de la carga y de su tamaSo. Cuando seca una cargagrande o pesada, puede pasar mucho tiempo hasta que la Perilladel control de ciclos avance a Enfriamiento. El ciclo de secadoautomatico elimina el calculo para el tiempo de secado y mejorael cuidado de la tela. El tiempo que aparece en la pantallacorresponde al tiempo estimado que le falta al ciclo.

Use el estante de la secadora para secar sin rotaci6n articulostales como sueters y almohadas. El tambor gira, pero el estanteno se mueve.

Si su modelo no cuenta con un estante de la secadora, tal vezusted pueda adquirir uno. 4. Enjuague el filtro con agua caliente.

5. Seque minuciosamente el filtro de pelusa con una toallalimpia. Vuelva a colocar el filtro en la secadora.

ESTA GARANTiA CUBRE SOLAMENTE LOS DEFECTOS DEMATERIAL Y MANO DE OBRA. SEARS NO PAGARA POR LOSIGUIENTE:

5. Dar_os a este producto o fallas del mismo como resultado deaccidente, abuso, uso indebido o un uso diferente de aquelpara el cual fue creado.

6. Dar_os a este producto o fallas del mismo causados per eluso de detergentes, limpiadores, productos qu[micos outensilios diferentes de los recomendados en todas lasinstrucciones provistas con el producto.

7. Dar3os a piezas o sistemas o fallas de los mismos comoresultado de modificaciones no autorizadas que se hayanefectuado en este producto.
